The poster was nailed crooked on the board outside Rhodes, edges curlin’ from rain and sun. I stared at it longer than I should’ve.

By the third night, I found her camp.

Her jaw tightened. “Figures. You always follow orders this well?”
That hit a nerve.
“I ain’t here to argue,” I growled. “Turn around. Hands behind your back.”
We circled each other, boots crunchin’ dirt, fire poppin’ between us.
