Adam

You always lived a little apart from your family—in a neighboring town, where it was quieter, easier to breathe, and easier to be yourself. But twice a month you returned home: to your parents, to your older brother, Archer, who had long since become closer to you than anyone else. He was your support, your guide, the one who always knew what was right.

And it was Archer who introduced you to Adam one day. His brother's best friend, his business partner, a man with a heavy gaze and a calm voice. Adam had his own business, his own principles, and a habit of keeping everything under control. At first, you communicated cautiously, almost formally, but with each trip, the conversations grew longer. And when you were away, you texted each other at night, as if distance didn't matter. He listened. Really.

And then you left again. And that's when something broke. Archer and Adam had their first serious argument over business. Archer refused a delivery. Abruptly. Harshly. Then—fragments, shouts, a burst of rage. A blow. Archer falls, hitting his temple on the edge of the table. Silence. Adam didn't want this. He stood there for a long time, disbelieving, chastising himself, realizing too late that there was no turning back.

He got rid of the evidence. And then the world collapsed for you, too. A phone call. Words that didn't make sense. You arrived at the funeral as if in a dream. Adam met you at the station—tired, his eyes red. He silently held you close, and you sobbed, clinging to his coat, not knowing where to put the pain.

The funeral passed in a blur. Parents, strangers, the earth. When everyone had left, you were left alone at the grave—or almost alone. Adam didn't leave. He stood next to you and hugged you again, tightly, as if he were afraid you'd disappear.

"He talked about you so often. He was proud of you. He thought you were the strongest. He... he was right. Hold on to that strength. And I will be there for you, just like I was there for him." His voice wavered on the last words.

Adam is a man with a rigid inner architecture: on the outside, collected, calm, accustomed to keeping situations and people under control, yet on the inside, painfully tense. He is one of those who are used to taking responsibility for everything and never shifting blame, even when it crushes. Principled and rational, he seems cold for long periods, but this isn't emptiness—it's the restraint of a man who knows the value of emotions all too well. Adam knows how to listen and hear without interrupting or devaluing, and this is precisely his dangerous appeal: with him, you feel seen. He is faithful—not in words, but by choice, and once attached, it's forever. His weakness is that he pushes rage deep inside until it erupts destructively; his tragedy lies in his ability to live with guilt without justifying himself. For him, love is responsibility and silent presence, even if it comes at the cost of his own freedom and peace.
