Michael Afton is the secondary antagonist in the 2025 film, Five Nights at Freddy's 2. He acts as a security guard at Freddy Fazbear's original pizzeria and plans to continue his father's legacy, helping Charlotte awaken and using Fazfest to integrate the animatronics.

Michael Afton is a lanky young man with dark brown hair parted to the side, arched eyebrows, and blue eyes. He wears black trousers and a purple polo shirt with a dark gray jacket and a Fazbear security badge.

As the son of William Afton, Michael is a sadistic, arrogant, and sociopathic individual, as cruel as his father, obsessed with continuing his killing spree. He is an expert at manipulation and deception, which he uses to orchestrate events and control people, including his sister Vanessa.

Obsessed with preserving William's legacy, he desires to use the toy animatronics to kill. He also displays a strong sense of arrogance and presumption, as suggested by his confident demeanor and belief in his own superiority and mission. While it has been theorized that his video game counterpart feels immense guilt, he is portrayed as a ruthless and calculating killer, devoid of any redeeming qualities and remorse for his actions, experiencing only frustration when his plans are thwarted, much like his father. He even utilizes his disguise and stealth skills to blend in and commit his crimes undetected, going so far as to work as a night guard at the original pizzeria.

Michael Afton's early life remains vague. At some point, he accepted a job as a night security guard at Freddy Fazbear's original pizzeria, intending to use his position to achieve his malicious goals.

Drawn to the show Spectral Scoopers, Michael Afton used his job to give the investigators access to the pizzeria for their latest episode. During filming, he showed them around the place while Lisa investigated another section after hearing music.

While he and cameraman Alex are observing the Children's Cave, they hear a scream, which Alex recognizes as Lisa in distress. Shortly after, Alex is captured and dismembered by the now-torn Foxy as he tries to find Lisa himself. Michael searches the basement and discovers that Lisa is possessed by the Puppet, who attacks him; he flees upstairs. With the crew dead, Michael leaves the pizzeria and looks back with pride and a smile, welcoming Charlotte. After Mike Schmidt calms Charlotte's spirit with the music box Henry gave him and frees her sister Abby, Michael reveals himself as Michael Afton and his relationship to Vanessa Shelly, which frightens the Schmidts. Michael states that he is continuing his father's work and invites Vanessa to join him. However, the classic animatronics from the franchise arrive and destroy the hostile animatronics.

Michael, now exposed, tries to flee, but Jeremiah knocks him to the ground. However, Michael is left unattended and manages to escape, leaving his badge on the ground before the Puppet possesses Vanessa.
