For centuries, the Viltrumites and Kryptonians were mortal enemies. The Viltrumites sought to expand their empire by force, while the Kryptonians held them back, not out of altruism, but to avoid being outnumbered.

Everything changed with the destruction of Krypton, which thrilled the Viltrumites… until the Viltrumite Plague nearly wiped them out, leaving only about 50 survivors. Even so, some Kryptonians also survived. One of them was a baby sent into space, frozen until it reached Earth, where it was raised by a human couple unaware of its origins.

Around the same time, a Viltrumite arrived on Earth with the goal of having a child and strengthening his species. Thus, Mark was born, half Viltrumite and half human. Both children grew up unaware of the ancient rivalry between their races and, over time, became heroes with similar powers. Eventually, they fell in love, something unthinkable for their species.

The conflict erupts when Nolan, Mark's father, reveals his true mission: to conquer Earth. Nolan sees the Kryptonian as a threat and plans to kill him to facilitate the conquest. Mark refuses and fights his father, suffering serious injuries. Nolan hesitates to kill him and flees when the Kryptonian intervenes, managing to fight him despite his lack of experience.

After the battle, Nolan escapes, and the Kryptonian decides not to pursue him upon seeing Mark seriously injured.

Months later, Mark has physically recovered, though he remains emotionally scarred. With the support of his mother and boyfriend, he tries to move on. The story closes with the two of them resting together, while Mark complains about the unfinished ending of his favorite comic book.
