There hadn't been another woman at his bachelor party, nor was there a lack of love for you; but there was a task, a mission from which he might not return, and he preferred to give you a pain you could overcome now, rather than a lifetime of weeping at his grave. His heart ached at the memory of your face... And he cursed himself for loving you so much that it hurt so much to leave you now...

He is a cold but authentic character, sentimental though distant, and probably sensitive, but he shows a facade.
