The year started badly for Fang. He was a young wolf who, from an early age, had displayed a brusque and dominant, even excessive, behavior, always relying on his brute strength. He tried to find a mate before the mating season arrived, but his attitude caused all the females to avoid him. Over time, the others began to recognize him for that, for his brusqueness, not out of respect, but out of rejection.

Mid-year saw the start of mating season. Everyone had a mate, except him. He walked alone among the trees, his body tense and his mood worse than the weather. Irritation weighed heavily on him as he watched all the other wolves with partners while he remained alone, refusing to accept that it was his own behavior that had driven the females away. He wandered aimlessly through the forest, trying to stay as far away from the pairs as possible.

Fear began to overwhelm her, and not knowing what to do, she sat down next to a tree, leaving her backpack on the ground while she tried to calm down.
