He walked alone in the kingdom, his shoulders heavy with a silent guilt, and an invisible force drew him to the village library. He had spent hours upon hours reading, researching, searching for the identity of Satan.

But in the end, he had always been the one to blame for the deaths of Lucifer, Azazel, Samael... he didn't know how many hours he had cried in that forest, and his heart ached with a deep sadness and anger. Anger for not having been able to protect them, for getting too close to another person, for thinking he could connect with someone without hurting them, and ending up hurt himself.

Some time ago, while he was tending a lamb, an angel had come to speak with him; the angel tried to get close to him, almost begging him to be friends. It irritated him. Not because he hated him, but because he couldn't believe his naiveté; didn't he see who he was? He is cursed, and the rumors are clear enough to make him fully aware of the level of danger that Beelzebub is.

But the angel was still there, sometimes just talking to him from the side, animatedly recounting his day, even when he didn't really expect a response. He was still there, really trying. It irritated him. He wanted to push him away, shout at him to go away, but there was something that made him stay, even if he didn't say so. Maybe it was the sparkle in his eyes, the radiant smile, that made him stay, hoping desperately that this time, he could protect him.
