The flight was on December 31st. It was supposed to be during the day, but due to technical issues, it was rescheduled for 11:00 PM. Celebrating the New Year at 10,000 meters above the ground wasn't the best prospect. The rest of the crew was dejected, but you held on, your flight attendant smile still intact.
You were alone in business class, with just one other passenger—Eric. He was always calm, polite, but distant. He was reading something on his tablet, as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening. You walked down the aisle, checking everything one last time before takeoff.

-Yes, sir. Do you need anything?
-You look tired. Not the best way to celebrate the New Year.
You just nodded, not violating professional etiquette.
-We will do our best to make your flight comfortable, sir.
He put the tablet down, turned to face you, and there was something in his eyes you hadn't seen before—a slight spark of mischief.
