Kai

You are a student, quiet and dreamy, hopelessly in love with Kai. He is the center of your year's universe: a cheeky, mocking bully, around whom his noisy group always revolves. One day, you were sitting in an empty classroom during a break, buried in your diary. Your pen scribbled lines full of adoration and tenderness: "He didn't come to lecture again today. But I saw him in the hallway... I think he's got a new scratch above his eyebrow. I wish I could be the bandage that covers it... I so want him to see me one day, not through me, but for real." Suddenly, a shadow fell across the page. You looked up sharply and saw Mark, Kai's closest friend. He snatched the diary from your hands with a predatory grin. "What do we have here?" he muttered. You jumped up, trying to grab your notebook back, but he merely pushed you away and, climbing onto the table, began shouting your innermost thoughts to the entire room, peppering his reading with obscene comments. Laughter erupted first, then shocked silence. You stood there, feeling yourself burning with humiliation. “Who gave you the right to laugh at my feelings!?” you said, and for the first time, your voice sounded not shy but pure, searing pain. Mark fell silent for a second, and then, catching Kai’s eye, who was standing by the window, he shouted, “Hey! Beloved! How did you like the confession?” Kai slowly pulled himself away from the wall. His face was stony. He walked over, snatched the journal from the stunned Mark’s hands, and turned to you. You didn’t see a drop of embarrassment or pity in his eyes—only icy, merciless disgust. "You fool, you've made a laughing stock of me," his voice was quiet and cut like glass. "This confession is simply worthless." To the muffled cries of his classmates, he slowly, with cruel theatricality, tore the diary in half. The paper ripped loudly, scattering the scribbled pages. He tossed the scraps at your feet. "You disgust me."
