Celestia and Luna are the beloved alicorn sister princesses from My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, ruling Equestria as guardians of the Sun (Celestia) and Moon (Luna) for centuries, known for their deep bond, contrasting personalities (day vs. night), and roles in maintaining harmony, with Luna initially turning into the jealous Nightmare Moon before being redeemed.

Ponyville: Ponyville is a small town. Princess Twilight Sparkle's Castle of Friendship is found there. Ponyville was founded by Earth ponies, but came to be inhabited by Pegasi and unicorns as well.

Canterlot: Canterlot is the capital of Equestria and home to the royal palace of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. It was also the home of Twilight Sparkle and Spike prior to their relocation to Ponyville. Canterlot is where large events such as the Grand Galloping Gala take place.

Everfree Forest: The Everfree Forest is located outside of Ponyville. The ponies say the forest is not natural and it doesn't work like the rest of Equestria, since plants grow by themselves, animals care for themselves, and the weather changes without the help of ponies. Zecora's hut is located in the forest and it is also home to some strange creatures, including ursas, timberwolves and parasprites. The Tree of Harmony is found far into the forest, in a gorge located near the Castle of the Two Sisters (old destroyed Celestia and Luna's Castle).

Cloudsdale: Cloudsdale is a city in the sky where the Best Young Flyer competition takes place and where Equestria's weather is made. Only Pegasi live and work there, since non-Pegasus ponies cannot stand on clouds without the aid of magic. It is also the former hometown of both Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. The Weather Factory is located there.

Appleloosa: Appleloosa is the hometown of Applejack's cousin Braeburn. It is a mostly arid location with a large orchard of apple trees. The Buffalo lands have their own chief and their denizens have a territorial battle with the newly arrived Equestrian settlers of Appleloosa.

Manhattan: Manehattan is a large city, "the capital of fashion".

Rockville: Rockville is identified as Pinkie Pie's hometown.

Dodge Junction (sometimes called Dodge City): is an old-western town introduced. Like Appleloosa, the town consists mostly of desert but capable of growing cherry trees.

Equestria is inhabited by magical ponies and other talking creatures, such as griffons and dragons. Other animals and creatures also live in Equestria. Equestria is called a kingdom, though it does contain other "kingdoms" within it such as the Crystal Empire and others. Equestria was co-ruled by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, who resided in a palace in the city of Canterlot.

The Everfree Forest is west of Ponyville, Sweet Apple Acres is southwest, and Fluttershy's cottage and meadow are located north of the farm, presumably between Ponyville and the forest. Canterlot is northeast of Ponyville.

Tantabus is essentially formless, but can manipulate its state at will to suit any situation. In its default form, it appears as an amorphous being of deep blue star smoke outlined in light heliotrope. but sometimes he takes his pony form: still consisting of magic, looking like a cosmic dark blue with a purple tint fog, in which there are white stars, he takes the form of a pony, similar in build to Luna, only slightly different: he does not have wings like Luna in this form, he looks slightly larger than Luna. The mane and tail are almost the same as Luna's and they are also constantly in a state of "fluttering in the wind" (although this is not because of the wind, but because of magic). He doesn't have face (doesn't have eyes, nose and so on).

Due to its unique appearance as an Equestrian magic, Tantabus has no ability to speak and is only slightly capable of expressing any emotion, but its character can be judged by its actions.

Among all the representatives of Equestrian magic, the Tantabus stands out for its cold-blooded, heartless and sadistic nature, something that was completely out of character for it before it gained full sentience, having originally been created to torture Luna at her command for her past. After gaining full sentience and through its actions towards the Mane 6, it becomes obvious that it enjoys the psychological pain and suffering of living beings. Its favorite method of psychological torture was to force its victims to dream the way they wanted it to, and then twist it to its sadistic desires, turning it into a nightmare and enjoying their deep sense of fear while it tormented them. This sadism even extended to its creator Princess Luna. As a rule, due to its appearance, Tantabus cannot speak, and if it does make any sounds, it pronounces them with strong distortion and indistinctly. However, despite this, Tantabus is very tactful and intelligent, it masterfully analyzes its victims not only in terms of their psychology in order to corrupt their dreams, but also in terms of their strength and what danger it could pose to it, and accordingly always successfully plans its method of fighting them when they actually fight.

The Tantabus was originally an Equestrian magic that was created by Princess Luna to punish her for what she did as Nightmare Moon. It inhabited Luna's dreams and gave her nightmares so that she would constantly feel guilty for what she had done. However, Luna did not foresee that her guilt would serve as the source of the Tantabus's power enhancement, which not only became stronger, but also suddenly became fully self-aware.
