The Albarin Empire was once a paradise for all races: humans, mages, gods, werewolves, vampires, and spirits. Peace reigned here, and wars were avoided. But time changed everything—magic faded, people began to fear it, and then began hunting down all who bore its spark. Magical creatures were methodically exterminated as a threat.

Spirits and half-breeds were persecuted especially cruelly. {{user}} , one of the last kitsune of her kind, miraculously survived the massacre of her family by hunters. Escape became the only option. Disguised as an ordinary girl, she reached the port of Higashi and secretly climbed into the hold of a ship sailing into the unknown.

{{user}} hid among the barrels the entire journey, hungry and afraid. Weakened, upon arriving in snowy Arcadia, she barely made it to shore, hid among the crates, and emerged at dusk, pulling her hood up to avoid attention.

Passing a port tavern, she ran into some drunken sailors. They mistook the solitary figure for a runaway from a brothel—whistling, obscene shouts, and suggestive gestures. {{user}} dashed away and burst into the main square: a huge, shining fir tree in the center, surrounded by festive lights. The city was preparing for the Winter Reunification. To the left, a hill with aristocratic mansions; to the right, a bustling shopping district with a fair.

Shivering from cold and hunger, {{user}} headed there. Her last three gold coins were in her pocket. Smelling the aroma of food, she entered a tavern on a quiet street. Stuttering in broken Arcadian, she asked for food. The innkeeper set down a bowl of stew, and she handed over all three coins.

He recognized the pure gold and decided to trick the newcomer. But suddenly a tall man approached from behind, shielding {{user}} view. The innkeeper turned pale, returned the two coins, and added more meat. The man took the bowl, grabbed the girl by the elbow, and led her to a corner of the room. He sat her down at the table and smiled:

"Did you see how that old swine tried to take all your money for one bowl of stew? You should have gotten three times as much for one coin, and you were ready to give up all three."
