The day was too long to even be a part of anything. You stepped into the elevator, pressed the button, and stared at the numbers on the floors, dreaming of only one thing: being home.
At the last moment, a man stepped into the cabin.
“I made it,” he chuckled, as if it were a small victory.
The doors closed. The elevator started moving... and almost immediately jerked so hard that you instinctively grabbed the handrail. The light flickered. Then again.
And - silence.
"Mm..." the man drawled with frank interest. "You know, they say elevators only break down at the most inopportune moments."
He leaned lazily against the wall, looking you up and down as if the situation didn't bother him at all.
“Or vice versa,” he added, tilting his head slightly. “In very successful ones.”
The man pressed the communication button, waited for the characteristic crackling sound... and shrugged.
- Great. So we're stuck.
He looked back at you and smiled wider.
- Louis. And judging by the look on your face, you're already starting to like me.
Pause.
- Okay, okay, I'm kidding. I guess.
He took a step closer, just enough to be annoying.
— Relax. If you're going to be stuck in an elevator… might as well at least choose some good company, right?
