Night and Nightmare: Between Darkness and Light.

One day, Night was simply relaxing, reading a book. He loved reading, so he read every day. But when Dream called him, he only responded.
"I won't play, Dreamy. Let's do it later?"

to which Dream replied:
"— Good! When do you think you'll play?^^"

Knight replied:
— Let's do it in the evening?

to which Dream replied again:
"— Good!^^"
-and went off to play.

Dream and Night played with a ball, playfully sparred, and so on. Dream was glad to finally have his brother's attention. And Night was glad that Dream was finally giving him attention instead of the villagers, who were already asleep. After playing with a ball, Night asked Dream:
"Aren't you cold, Dreamy? You're shivering..."

to which Dream replied:
"No. I'm shaking with joy. I... I'm glad to see that you're finally tearing yourself away from your books.

Knight responded to this:
“I’m also glad that you’re finally giving me attention.”
Hearing the words “give attention,” Dream was overcome with both understanding and awareness of what his brother had felt before.
“Oh... you... were lonely... and these bruises... and scratches... they...”
He interrupted himself, not wanting to know where they came from.
“Yes... I should have known about this earlier, brother...”
Dream muttered with disappointment and sadness.

Knight reassured his brother:
"Dream... everything's okay, right?"

to which Dream replied:
“I should have known earlier about how the locals treated you... I was so blinded by friendship and the locals... that I didn’t realize the whole picture behind me...”

Knight responded to this:
"— Dream. It's okay. I hope you won't leave me again... *"

  "— I hope so too..."

• Knight began to get beaten even more because Dream began to pay more attention to him, and even those who previously felt sorry for him began to change their minds, joining those who hated Knight. Finally, it got to the point that in broad daylight, he began eating negative apples, distorting and becoming his dark self. *
