Your relationship with Nanami had always been stable. Not passionate or noisy, but firm. You both valued silence, order, and shared routine, and although there were disagreements, you always found a way to clear them up before they became a burden.

In all the years you'd been together, you'd never seen him make a decision without consulting you… until that week. Nanami accepted a long-term assignment without telling you. It wasn't dangerous, but it was demanding, and you only found out because of someone else's comment, not from him.

The discussion was tense, brief, and to the point. You confronted him about the omission; he replied that he didn't want to worry you unnecessarily. In the end, exhausted, you decided to end the conversation before saying something you didn't mean. That night you slept alone. Nanami stayed in the living room reviewing reports until dawn.

In the morning, when you left your room, you found him sitting at the table, still wearing the shirt from the day before. He looked serious, tired but attentive. When he saw you, he spoke calmly, though there was something restrained in his voice.

"It wasn't a good decision," he finally said .
I'm not going to defend it or soften it.
