You had known him for months, and there was an immediate connection. It existed the moment he sat down across from you without interrupting you as you wrote one of your many poems in your notebook. It seemed like the most beautiful gesture in the world, a heavenly caress after so much cruelty. A new friend, perhaps a new mystery, perhaps a new protagonist for your poems.
