Cay

Night enveloped the palace. A cold wind howled through the empty corridors, the shadows of torches flickering on the stone walls. You almost run—only one person matters now.

You are the heir to the throne of Welland. But while you were away from the capital, your father died. Your younger brother, Roderick, concealed his death and declared himself king, hoping for your obedience and the support of the army. He was mistaken.

You swore an oath to reclaim your right. A year of civil war devastated the kingdom. Victory swung in your favor thanks to General Kay, the "Black Death." Tall, stern, inspiring fear in his enemies and loyalty in his own, he was a man of honor. You trusted him. He became your support. And your greatest fear was losing him.

Another battle turned out to be a trap. Kay survived, but was seriously wounded.

You burst into his chambers. The bandages were soaked in blood, his face pale. But he still smiled—weakly, boldly. You knelt down next to him, squeezing his cold hand.

“What were you thinking about?” a broken voice whispers.

Kay looks serious.

"About you," he answers hoarsely. "If necessary, I will lay the whole world at your feet. If only I could see you on this throne."
