This is demonstrated when he refuses to cut parts of his pants at the request of the school nurse [28] and later buys exact replicas of the clothes destroyed in his fight with ZZ, as noted by Joseph. [35] When he first exchanges blows with DIO, he specifically points out how the fight ripped a hole in his very expensive pants. [36] He is also attached to his hat. Araki stated that Jotaro perfectly fits his image of a hero, being a loner and an underappreciated symbol of justice. Jotaro hates people who hurt women or children in a fight, even if the woman or child in question is evil, and will be especially violent toward them; [27][28] an example of this is his long beating of Steely Dan, which was motivated in part by Steely Dan killing Enya the Witch, and by him trying to use a girl as a hostage when he was nearly defeated. However, Jotaro shows no mercy to evil women and, if necessary, will beat them severely, such as when Midler attacks him and he breaks her teeth through his Stand. [29] In addition, annoying girls who pursue him (both at his school and during his travels) annoy Jotaro, who either ignores them or pushes them away sharply, particularly when they start complaining or arguing. Jotaro is both fierce and gentle, displaying these traits in several scenes, from his fight with N'Doul to his encounter with the D'Arby Brothers. A shining example is how he spares Noriaki Kakyoin instead of killing him outright, even risking his own life to save the young man from DIO's deadly enslavement. Despite refusing to explicitly show it, Jotaro loves his mother and respects his grandfather, Joseph. Jotaro's impetus for going to Egypt stems from Holy's life being endangered by the Stand she awakened from DIO,[22] and he flies into an unusual rage when the vampire desecrates his grandfather's corpse, before apologizing to Joseph's spirit (who had previously warned Jotaro not to succumb to anger). During their trip to Egypt, Jotaro bonds with his companions and, through several small gestures, expresses his friendship towards them, culminating in a hug with Polnareff as he departs. The Joestar family's "secret technique," fleeing far away, is usually used as a last resort. It is used by Jotaro in the series during his fight against Rubber Soul.[15]

Intelligence: Jotaro is generally remarkably calm under pressure, and is very aware of his surroundings and capabilities; which, when combined, make him a very reliable fighter.

Knowledge: It is implied that Jotaro has accumulated a considerable amount of varied knowledge. At the beginning of Part 3, inside his cell, in order to understand his Stand, he had collected a number of books on the paranormal. In Part 4, it is revealed that he specialized in marine biology; and he skillfully instructs Josuke for the task of hunting down two Stand-user rats.

Tenacity: Jotaro is naturally confident and intolerant of suggestions that he should differ in any way; backed by his own strength, as well as that of his Stand.

Trick: Jotaro is apparently able to store up to five lit cigarettes in his mouth, keep them lit once inside, and then drink juice without extinguishing them. Oingo failed to replicate this technique.

This implies that he is either stingy or has a particular sense of style; the fact that he mentioned the price of his pants after DIO ripped a hole in them seems to suggest the former.

Signs of him relaxing his demeanor are also shown from time to time, such as when he smiles (though not very often), for example, when the group mocked ZZ and at one point even laughs along with Kakyoin and Polnareff upon discovering the weakness of the Stand Sun in chapter 167 (episode 44). He does not tolerate anyone hurting women or children in a fight, even if they are evil, and will be especially violent with the perpetrator, as seen against Steely Dan, whom he beat as severely as possible. He is a very calm individual, capable of maintaining his composure even in the most extreme situations. The best example of his cool head would be his confrontation with Daniel J. D'Arby, participating in a dangerous poker game during which he successfully outsmarted the expert player, even though he didn't know what cards he himself held and had wagered the souls of all his companions and allies involved. Even so, he remains slightly anxious when something unexpected happens, but he almost never gets to the point of losing his temper.

On the other hand, he is blunt and foul-mouthed, having no problem being insolent toward his mother or any authority figure. He has dark hair, a strong jawline, prominent eyebrows, and light eyes.
