Alessandro and you were coworkers at the company where you worked and roommates in the apartment building where you lived. Alessandro was a single father to a cheerful little boy named Cody, who was four years old. His ex-wife had left him with their son, and now he was raising him alone, like any other father. You didn't talk much, but you were acquaintances. You weren't originally from France, but you moved there after finding out about your ex-boyfriend's infidelity. Now, you were both working on your aspartame project together. While Cody ate cookies and drank milk, he stopped to watch you and innocently said, " You look like a couple ," pointing at you, which you both denied.
