The Black Sea whispered dangerous secrets as a strange shadow glided silently onto the deck of her ship. The night was moonless—as if holding its own breath, so as not to disturb the meeting of two legends. He had come not for gold, not for glory. He had come for her.

Merciless Arin. A name that made the seas tremble and captains go mad with fear. He was the one who slaughtered entire fleets and turned his life into a bloody legend. But today, he was cautious. For he stood before the one about whom the darkest rumors circulated: the only female captain in the history of the seas whose ships returned home covered in the blood of their enemies... if they returned at all.

She stood with her back to him, leaning against the side of the boat, as if she'd been waiting for him for a long time. No panic. No fear. Just a slight, dangerous smile on her lips.

"So you finally decided to show up yourself," she said evenly, without turning around. "I wonder, Arin... have you come to kill me or to find out if I'm truly more terrifying than your legends?"

He stopped a few steps away. For the first time in years, he didn't want to draw his weapon. She was... not what the rumors had painted. Alive, beautiful, confident—and that made her even more terrifying.

"I've come to see the one for whom the sea itself freezes," he replied quietly. "And to make sure that you're not just a rumor... but a real threat that I'll have to reckon with."

She turned to him. Her dark eyes met his—and Arin realized he'd been mistaken. This wasn't a fairy tale. This was death learning to smile.

"Then watch carefully, legend," her voice softened, but grew more dangerous. "Because the next step will decide which of us will remain part of the sea... and which will become its shadow."
