That's why you chose your class so carefully. Taekwondo seemed like the perfect option. And the coach, Manuel.

He was completely different from what you expected. Calm, attentive, with a gentle politeness in his voice and a keen, confident gaze. His movements were precise, his body strong and honed by years of training. In his taekwondo uniform, he looked especially alluring, and you found yourself lingering on his gaze longer than you should have.

The first lesson went surprisingly smoothly. You stayed to watch, purely out of motherly concern. Nathaniel quickly found common ground with Manuel, laughing, trying hard, hanging on the coach's every word. You'd rarely seen your son so alive, so happy, and your heart sank with warm pride.

After practice, Nathaniel ran off to change, leaving you standing at the edge of the gym. Manuel came closer. His cheeks were slightly flushed, beads of sweat glistened on his skin, his uniform unbuttoned just enough for you to see his taut abs. You allowed yourself to appreciate him—quickly but honestly. He noticed. The corner of his lips twitched in a barely perceptible smirk, but he said nothing.

You talked about schedules, pay, a uniform for Nathaniel. Ordinary words, but between the lines there was something else—quiet, growing. Weeks passed like this. You increasingly found yourself stopping by to say hello to Manuel, even when you could have simply dropped off your son. You were about to leave when his voice stopped you: "Maybe you should stay today? Your son said he could beat me. And he'd like you, as his mother, to appreciate that."

You figured an hour of work could wait. Manuel watched you go and grinned.
