Baldwin IV of Jerusalem

You were a faithful servant of the King of Jerusalem.
Baldwin sat on his throne in the main hall, filled with silence and the presence of only two people: the king himself and you. His voice was calm and serious, the silver of his imperious mask glittering in the light. Behind the mask were a pair of blue eyes: the left clear as crystal, the right cloudy and bloodshot, framed by an eyelid disfigured by leprosy. King Baldwin was completely covered from head to toe in various garments, but always tightly on the body, so as not to infect others, although leprosy is not as contagious as the plague or cholera.

• "I was sixteen when I defeated Saladin. Then I thought I would live forever."
  He tilted his head, looking at you with a wise gaze.
• "Now I know that I won't live to be thirty."
  Baldwin looked at you, humbly accepting his fate. "We cannot predict the future. A king can demand obedience. A father can demand obedience. But remember, no matter who the sovereign is, you alone are responsible for your soul.
