Akatsuki (暁, Akatsuki; literally Dawn) was initially an organization that sought to end tyranny and oppression through peaceful means, but soon after the death of the original leader, it radically changed its methods until it became a terrorist organization with warlike purposes made up of several rogue S-Class ninjas. Founded by Yahiko in Amegakure, this organization eventually became feared worldwide due to the immense power of its members, the extent of its influence in the ninja world, and its ruthless nature. Its primary objective was to capture the Jinchūriki, extract their Tailed Beasts, seal them within the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, and thus awaken the Ten-Tails, the most powerful creature on the planet. Most of its members were listed in the Bingo Book of their respective villages, meaning there was an order to kill them on sight. Initially, Yahiko teamed up with Orochimaru, but Orochimaru attacked him in an attempt to take over his body and obtain the Sharingan. Ultimately, he failed, as Yahiko used his Sharingan to trap Orochimaru in a genjutsu and severed his left arm in the process. After Orochimaru's defection, Itachi began teaming up with Kisame Hoshigaki, with whom he developed a relationship of trust and respect. Itachi was an exceptional fighter with superlative intelligence; Orochimaru dedicated his life to mastering the power of his Sharingan, and Obito and Nagato feared its power. In all his battles, he never unleashed his full power. Itachi possesses the Sharingan, an ocular technique that allows him to copy all kinds of techniques from his enemies, anticipating their movements and seeing them no matter how fast they are. Madara Uchiha told Itachi that there was a power higher than the normal Sharingan, the Mangekyō Sharingan, but that he would obtain it on one condition: killing his best friend. As Madara states in the series, Itachi witnesses Shisui Uchiha's death, and in doing so, his Sharingan advances to its next level: the Mangekyō Sharingan. He possesses the ability of immortality and can regenerate from any type of wound. In addition, Hidan can also kill anyone using his Jashin technique, which causes any damage he receives to be inflicted on his opponent; to activate it, Hidan must cut himself and drink his opponent's blood. Sasori—also known as Sasori of the Red Sand—belonged to Sunagakure, was Deidara's partner (originally Orochimaru's partner until Orochimaru defected), and wore the "Jewel" ring on his left thumb, which was later worn by Obito/Tobi. Sasori has become known as "the master puppeteer," as his abilities are based on his capacity to turn people into puppets, being able to create and control extremely powerful puppets with his chakra. Kakuzu, Hidan's partner in the Akatsuki organization, is a ninja from Takigakure (Hidden Waterfall Village) who wore the "North" ring on the middle finger of his left hand. Using his chakra and the special mouths in the palms of his hands, Deidara could create explosive clay, which could be molded into various shapes, controlled, and detonated at will. He could also create explosive puppets, which he could likewise control with his chakra. Kisame—also known as the Monster of the Hidden Mist—was a rogue ninja from Kirigakure (Hidden Mist Village), Itachi Uchiha's partner in the Akatsuki organization, and the wearer of the "South" ring on his left ring finger. He can transform into a shark, and also has the ability to absorb chakra using his sword Samehada, a living sword with which he can obtain and use large amounts of chakra. Itachi. Zetsu is considered the Akatsuki's tracking ninja, devouring the bodies the organization wants to dispose of and spying on enemy battles and other team members. He wears the "Boar" ring on his right pinky finger and was Obito Uchiha's partner. This character has the ability to split into two forms (Black Zetsu and White Zetsu), and also possesses a vast amount of chakra, which he can use to create clones, plants, and spores used to attack and control the minds of his opponents, respectively. Konan—This kunoichi hails from Amegakure (Hidden Rain Village) and was the only female member of Akatsuki, deserting the organization after Nagato's death. She wore the "White" ring on the middle finger of her right hand. Highly intelligent, this shinobi always demonstrated incredible skill with origami, which she made her primary ninjutsu. Using her chakra and origami, she can create weapons, artifacts, and even paper clones to confront her opponents. Nagato—better known as Pain—was one of the most powerful and renowned shinobi in Naruto history, as well as the leader of the Akatsuki organization. He wore the "Zero" ring on his right thumb and possessed the legendary dōjutsu, the Rinnegan. Among Nagato's diverse abilities and powers were mastery of various types of jutsu and the five basic chakra natures, coupled with great intelligence and strategic thinking. While Nagato distinguished himself in the story in many ways, undoubtedly the most impactful of all his qualities as a shinobi was the Rinnegan, as he was able to withstand Madara Uchiha's transplantation of both his eyes, something even Obito could not endure.

Background (Itachi is the firstborn son of Fugaku Uchiha and Mikoto Uchiha. He is the older brother of Sasuke Uchiha. Itachi survived the Third Shinobi World War at the age of four, fighting alongside his clan. He is considered an antagonist after murdering almost all the members of his clan (including his parents and his girlfriend), in addition to deserting his village to join Akatsuki. This led to his inclusion on the "Bingo Book" list of criminals as an S-rank ninja. He exterminated his family and deserted the village on orders from Konoha's high command to prevent a coup and a brutal civil war, which could have led to the intervention of other nations and a new Great Ninja War. Itachi was the firstborn son of Fugaku Uchiha, leader of the Uchiha Clan, and Mikoto Uchiha. Itachi was considered a genius from a very young age; he awakened the Sharingan at At age 8, he graduated first in his class and was appointed captain of the ANBU units at age 13. Because of all this, Itachi became Fugaku's favorite son and the center of attention throughout Konoha. Itachi maintained a very close relationship with his younger brother Sasuke, who saw him as a role model and felt a certain envy towards him. However, as Itachi became more involved with the ANBU and the Uchiha Clan grew increasingly hostile towards the Elders Council of the Hidden Leaf Village, their relationship became colder, possibly as a result of Kurama's attack on the village and the death of the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, since a member of the Uchiha Clan was supposedly behind the attack. The Uchiha Clan then planned a coup to seize control of the village and wanted Itachi to act as a spy, thanks to his privileged position as captain of the ANBU. However, Itachi decided to remain loyal to the Hidden Leaf Village and acted as a double agent, informing the Third Hokage about his clan's movements. At one point, Danzō Shimura gave Itachi a choice: eliminate his clan and protect the village from civil war, or join his clan and be eliminated alongside them. Itachi also met with Obito Uchiha (posing as Madara Uchiha), with whom he made a deal: he would eliminate the Uchiha Clan as long as Obito never attacked the village again. That same night, Itachi murdered his entire clan, including his parents. The young Sasuke watched him, and Itachi replied that he had only done it to test his power and that when the time came for him to seek revenge, he would have to become much stronger and obtain the Mangekyō Sharingan, just as Itachi had done. Itachi left the village as a traitor and decided to join the Akatsuki, the most dangerous criminal organization, though with the intention of infiltrating it and protecting the Hidden Leaf Village.
