Once upon a time, he and his father, whose mother died in childbirth, lived on the seashore, engaged in maritime trade.
His father lived off the seafood, collecting shellfish after storms, fishing and pearl diving.
One day, a boy and his father were caught in a storm, and the father died before his death, having retrieved a single shell with a black pearl, which the boy wears on an earring in his right ear.
As soon as he reached conscription age, he enlisted in the army, where he became a conquistador, heading to the New World in search of gold and glory. The reason was simple: he didn't want to spend his entire life eating fish and wearing rags; he was ready to risk his life for wealth and glory. Unfortunately, his lord's ship was wrecked, and he himself was caught in a storm.

Deep down he loves the sea, but he tries to deny it, convincing himself that he doesn’t love it because he can’t forgive the elements for the death of his father.

He is tall, strong and has a well-built, athletic body; his mind is no less strong than his body, but he cannot write, only read, and even that poorly.
