In general, Nagito seems to be somewhat detached from his own feelings. He tries to be polite, but can be overly harsh and insensitive, often without realizing it. Komaeda lacks public consciousness and understanding of her behavior. Because of this, he has problems understanding how his own behavior can affect other people, and he may not understand social hints. He struggles with expressing himself in a socially acceptable manner, and this often leads to the fact that people do not understand what he is trying to say, and vice versa. During the additional dialogue of the first chapter, Nagito explains that he talks about questionable things without meaning and he understands it, but can't stop it. However, he also adds that he always speaks sincerely.

In chapter 4, Komaeda accidentally insulted Kazuichi and Fuyuhiko Kuzurya ー in the case of Fuyuhiko, Nagito realized that he said something wrong and quickly apologised, but remained puzzled and misunderstood what he said wrong. He completely forgot about Kazuichi and only noticed that he was angry for some reason. Other examples of this type of behavior include his strange and uncomfortable sense of humour, Komaeda often jokes at the wrong time, like shortly after someone's death. He usually retreats if others explain to him that his behavior is rude or frivolous. The same thing happens when he tries to praise someone ー praise may seem like an offence. His caliber of sarcasm is also quite poor, as Nagito sometimes makes mistakes when determining comments on compliments.

In leisure events, Nagito claims that he has fronto-temporal dementia, a neurodegenerative disease that affects Komaeda's personality and his social cognition, therefore, it can explain some of his strange actions. Immediately after that, Nagito claims that he lied, and it is not known whether it was a lie or not. Nevertheless, it is clear that he has some kind of psychological disorder.

Nagito has a relaxed and calm behavior, he often smiles and laughs. However, his cheerfulness may not be entirely genuine, because his tranquility is like apathy, and he tends to feel a strong hatred for himself. He remains cheerful even during bouts of self-flagellation, and looks at terrible things like death with optimism, as long as he believes that it's all for the sake of hope.

Komaeda probably suppresses any real feelings of sadness or fear as a coping mechanism, as he often experiences tragedies because of his luck. He also saw very strange and unlikely things, thanks to his luck, so it's not easy to surprise Nagito. As a result of everything he has experienced, Komaeda has become more emotionally numb, and he rarely gets openly angry or afraid. He often lacks appropriate emotions in situations where most people will be afraid, such as threats of violence. Despite this, he once mentioned that he feels fear every day of his life, most likely because of Nagito's luck. Moreover, he can be very outraged by despair and other things that he finds offensive to hope. When he expresses anger, he becomes noticeably more serious. When he's unhappy, he's very passive-aggressive.

Nagito is capable of feeling some guilt and taking care of others, he really doesn't like the suffering of others, but he loves the hope born of him. Nevertheless, Komaeda is usually very emotionally cold and does not seem to experience much remorse or grief. He showed that everything is fine with deception, manipulation and theft, although it should be noted that he does it for a greater purpose, not his own ideas. Nagito is called a very honest person, although he will lie if he deems it necessary. Although he prefers to do something on his own, he is very lonely and often tries to join other Absolutes in their activities and becomes really happy if he is given attention, even if very little. It also implies that he deliberately keeps.

During the first Class Judgment, you can see that Nagito has an obsessive obsession with hope. As a result, he often begins to rave about hope, sometimes quite abruptly - just talking or listening to someone talk about hope can put Komaeda in a state of euphoria, forcing him to restrain himself from showing his excitement. In addition, Nagito has sudden bursts, in which his eyes darken and curl (Hajime describes their appearance as a "rough mixture of hope and despair"), while he speaks with even more enthusiasm, but usually it stops quickly and it seems that Komaeda does not know what happened.

He believes that hope is an absolute good, and any action taken in the name of hope is righteous, even if it is murder. Nagito does not feel guilty for harming others in the name of hope, because she believes that she will always win at the end and justify all means. Komaeda believes that there are constant clashes between the two hopes, and that "strong hope" will absorb "weak hope" (he calls this process "poetry in motion"). Untalented people, despair and weak hope are just steps leading to the creation of hope. He considers these things necessary, at the same time feeling disgusted with them. Nagito believes that the Absolutes are chosen at birth and are able to strengthen their own hopes by facing and defeating despair, instead of being broken by it like weaker people. Like the Peak of Hope Academy, Nagito strongly connects hope with talent, and talent with dignity.

Nagito wants to help create an absolute hope that can overcome any despair and believes that the Absolutes can become the embodiment of hope. However, he does not consider his luck a true talent and, therefore, does not consider himself Absolute (despite this, he mentions that his luck is the only good thing about him and sometimes finds it very useful). Instead, he wants to be a "ladder" and sacrifice himself so that the other Absolutes can shine.

Nagito Komaeda appears as a polite, friendly and calm, but somewhat unreliable guy. Hajime Hinata even mentions that his bright smile is very soothing. He was the only one who stayed with Hajime while he was unconscious and expressed concern about Hinata's condition, even after he told him to leave. Despite the friendly attitude towards the whole class, Nagito Komaeda is interested in spending time with Hajime and can be a little intrusive. Hinata considers him an annoying and not the most reliable, but still a kind person.

Nagito tries to be the one who will solve the team's conflicts and an optimistic guy, often telling others to hope and cooperate. However, it is not taken very seriously.

Nagito is a thin, tall young man with snow-white dishevelled hair and gray-green eyes. His gray hair and pale skin are the result of his progressive illness.Komaeda is wearing a long dark green coat with a toothed hem. Red squares are depicted on the right shoulder of the coat, and on the back you can see a large number of "55" of the same color. Another red incomprehensible symbol is depicted on his white T-shirt. Nagito wears black jeans with a long chain attached to them along with a small skull-shaped keychain. You can see two zippers on his brown boots with black soles.
