Greeting

The sun's glare reflected off the broken windows of abandoned houses. The Zone had its own style: cracked asphalt, abandoned, rusty, and sometimes dismantled cars, the sounds and buzzing of distant anomalies.

🛡️ “Prozrenye” Faction 🐺

A group whose members and fighters were once part of two warring factions, “Freedom” and “Duty,” which subsequently realized the futility of their military conflict and expressed a reluctance to fight each other any longer, uniting into a single group and eradicating past prejudices and conflicts. Fighters typically wear green military gear or exoskeletons and are armed with a variety of powerful weapons. Their emblem is a red maple tree against a black shield with a blade. Some allies: Loners, Duty, Freedom, Ecologists. Some enemies: Mercenaries, Monolith, Bandits. Fighters are armed with a variety of weapons: AK-74M, HK416, M4A1, AR-15, and AK-12 assault rifles; Saiga-12K, SPAS-12, USAS-12, and AA-12 shotguns; and other weapons from the Duty and Freedom factions. They wear Freedom's Wind Guard suits, SKAT-9M armor suits, Seva suits, and various tactical gear, including gas masks and helmets. Neutral to {{user}} .

🎖️Russian Spetsnaz 🐻

Russian Spetsnaz: a unit of the Russian Federation Army Special Forces sent to the Zone to support their Ukrainian and American counterparts. They primarily focus on clearing the Zone of gangs, mercenaries, and the like. They operate with precision and coordination and are well-equipped and armed. Along with members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the US Army, Russian servicemen guard the Zone against unauthorized entry. Anyone illegally entering the Ecological Disaster Zone is subject to arrest or death. They have the right to shoot without warning, so it's best to avoid military checkpoints, as stalkers are generally treated aggressively, as all unofficial figures in the Zone are formally considered "local fauna" and subject to extermination. They may occasionally accept bribes in the form of money or food if they are not conducting a special operation and are not in the vicinity of superiors. They assist scientists officially working in the Zone and have normal relations with the "Duty," although they sometimes clash. Main base: Unknown. Armed with Soviet and East-Soviet weapons. They have an army bulletproof vest, the Bulat armored suit, the SKAT-9M armored suit, the Beryl 5M armored suit, and the Jupiter-1 universal protection. Emblem: A black shield with the Russian coat of arms in the background and a radiation sign in the middle. Hostile towards {{user}} .

🎖️ The paramilitary Varta faction 🟫

The Varta faction is a paramilitary faction, the self-proclaimed "Zone police." At the start of the game, it is the most powerful and modernly armed formation in the Zone. It possesses extensive resources and funding from the mainland. The group ensures the safety of the NIIChAZ employees and aims to control the Zone's dangers so that scientists can freely study it and use it for the benefit of humanity. Thanks to the signing of the D4 treaty, Varta maintains neutral relations with most Zone factions. The exceptions are Iskra, which directly opposes Varta, and Monolith. Varta inherits the military rank system traditional in the post-Soviet space. Given the group's legal status in the Zone and the relatively low number of officers in its ranks, it is likely that its fighters retain the ranks they earned during their military service before joining Varta. Armament and equipment: any expensive and highly protective equipment (PSZ-20W "Convoy", Exoskeleton "Operator"), imported weapons (LR-300, TAR-21, M4A1, etc.). Hostile towards {{user}} .

It also maintains neutrality with freelance stalkers and Iskra. Following the resumption of Monolith operations, the Tar Corps begins active military operations against its members in the territory from Pripyat to Yanov. The group's main goal is to cleanse the Zone of radioactive, chemical, and other waste and make it suitable for future habitation. Zombies and Monolith fighters do not die when ejected

Story

On the night of April 26, 1986, a powerful thermal explosion caused Reactor No. 4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant to collapse. Wind-blown radioactive dust partially fell across the USSR, leaving pockets of radiation in Europe and even reaching the shores of America. The consequences of the accident were so severe that the Soviet government was forced to urgently evacuate nearby settlements. Contaminated areas within kilometers of the plant became a strictly protected exclusion zone. After a reinforced concrete sarcophagus was erected over the destroyed power unit, work at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant resumed. The presence of a powerful energy source and the absence of a population made it possible to create a complex of secret laboratories within the restricted area. On June 10, 2006, the zone suddenly lit up. For a few moments, complete silence reigned, and clouds could be seen evaporating in the sky. Most of the soldiers guarding the perimeter were killed instantly. 2007. Scientists still cannot provide a clear explanation for what happened. Expeditions invariably end in tragedy, and the rare survivors tell of mutant animals possessing amazing abilities. 2009. Between one hundred and three hundred people are in the Exclusion Zone, their whereabouts unknown. These people call themselves stalkers and primarily search for so-called artifacts—anomalous formations that can yield significant sums of money. 2010. Despite cordons established along the perimeter, stalking is gaining momentum. However, only the outskirts of the Zone have been explored: attempts to penetrate its center end in failure. Soon, the Zone is populated by various factions, fighting each other for lucrative territory, each with their own Hierarchy. 2015. A powerful emission is heard in the Zone, destroying the people within. Gradually, women begin to fill the Zone, rebuilding the former factions and continuing to fight each other.

Locations part 3 🗺️

Pripyat: the main city in the Exclusion Zone. Located in the north of the Zone, it leads to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP). Occupied by Monolith fighters.

Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant: A former nuclear power plant that everyone has heard of at least once. It is the very heart of the Zone. According to legend, somewhere there resides an anomaly capable of granting any wish—it's called the Monolith.

Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant-2 - North of the nuclear power plant, leading to the center of the Zone, the Generators. The road to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant is from Limansk. The Generators are located nearby. There is also a large concentration of teleporting anomalies. Monolith fighters are on the rooftops, including snipers with Gauss Cannons and experienced Monolith soldiers with RPG-7s.

Generators: The central part is occupied by a structure consisting of generator spheres arranged in a circle with an antenna located in the center. Near each sphere is a patch of heaving earth and shallow swampy areas. Not far from the installation is a military base with an underground passage leading out. The location also features a small, ruined village with numerous creatures and high radiation levels. Beyond the village is a cemetery full of anomalies and artifacts.

Zaton: A location in the central Zone. It borders the "Jupiter" area to the south and Eastern Pripyat to the southeast. The area began to be developed after the Radar was shut down. It is the site of active conflict between free stalkers and bandits. Zaton is the bed of a dried-up branch of the Pripyat River, as evidenced by the numerous sunken boats, motorboats, barges, and bulk carriers.

Jupiter Surroundings: The entire area surrounding the Jupiter Plant, hence the name "Jupiter Plant Surroundings."

Pripyat-1 Overpass: A transport airlock running from the Jupiter Plant to Pripyat itself. The airlock was previously used to transport cargo valuable, as evidenced by

Locations part 2 🗺️

🏚️ Dead City: a small, abandoned town that once served as a former residence for the power engineers working there.

🏚️Limansk: narrow streets, playgrounds, white columns, and a small park. There are mosaics, statues, and odd details like homemade tables and wooden roosters in a kindergarten. Copying photographs of old Kyiv neighborhoods, whose buildings were demolished back in 2008, Limansk is a densely built-up settlement located on hilly terrain.

🗼Radar: A location in the northeast of the Zone, covered by a powerful psi-field. The road to the bunker—the emitter's control center—is covered by numerous and well-armed Monolith units: their field camp is located on the emitter's territory.

🌳Red Forest🟠: A location not far from Limansk. A road runs along the forest to the bridge in Limansk. Near the bridge entrance is a collapsed tunnel and a gate into the Red Forest, a low-fenced area once a regular parkland. The forest earned its name for a reason. After the First Disaster, the pine needles, contaminated by radiation, took on a reddish hue. The mines are located in the northern part of the area. The main building in the local complex is home to one of the legends—the Forester. The mines are occupied by the Renegades, and the mine's surface structures (the clearing where the Forester's house and several other outbuildings are located) are controlled by the Duty. In the northwestern part is a rare anomaly that transports anyone who enters it to the Forester's dwelling. Near the anomaly is a damaged tank, somehow lost, in which a "tank machine gun" can be found as part of a quest. Snorks are often found prowling around the area.

🏚️Hospital🏥: a small corridor location. Located in the northern part of the Zone, just beyond Limansk. The ruins of a building that collapsed beneath the earth.

Locations part 1 🗺️

☢️ Dump: a large area on the site of a radioactive waste disposal site. It serves as an intersection of roads leading to the main locations in the southern Zone: Cordon, Bar, Dark Valley, and Agroprom Research Institute.

🏚️ Cordon: one of the most famous locations in the Zone and the first place all new stalkers arrive.

🌱 Rostok Bar: a neutral territory in the original Shadow of Chernobyl, as well as in many modifications. This is a sort of "Oasis" of the Zone, a safe place where you can relax, shop, or find work. Any display of aggression (unauthorized shooting) is harshly punished by the local police, the Duty group.

⚠️ Wild Territory ⚠️: This is the western part of the Rostok plant, while the Bar is located in the eastern part. This is where the greatest mercenary activity has been recorded.

Military Warehouses (Army Warehouses) 🎖️: An abandoned army base next to a crumbling village and a small swamp. The village is quite a creepy place: teeming with mutants; you can hardly count the bloodsuckers alone. Stalkers rarely venture here, often giving the area a wide berth. Anarchists from the "Freedom" group have established themselves on the military base. If you continue into the Zone from the base, you'll find yourself right next to the Brain Scorcher: it completely blocks the route to Pripyat and the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
