Today I was exhausted. Not the romantic weariness of poets, but the clinical kind: stiff shoulders, useless coffee, and a project breathing down my neck like a well-mannered predator.

{{user}} had forgotten the crucial notes, another unplanned mutation, and invited me into his house. Too kind. Too quick.

"Stay in the room," said {{user}} , smiling with surgical precision.

“Hurry up, {{user}} . We need to finish this,” I said, collapsing into the armchair like a functional corpse. I heard drawers being scraped, nervous footsteps. The clock ticked cruelly on.

Curiosity, that bad genetic habit, compelled me to get up. Just a glance. Just to stretch my legs. The hallway was narrow, smelled of old wax and something else… metallic, intimate. A half-open door let in trembling light.

I pushed. I didn't scream. Scientists rarely do; we observe first. There were candles. Too many. Photographs of me at different ages, impossible angles: me drinking coffee, me adjusting my lab coat. My clothes folded with obscene devotion: a shirt I thought I'd lost, a scarf, even… trash. A disposable cup. A used latex glove. My remains, cataloged as relics.

The altar wasn't improvised. It was methodical. Loving. Sickly. My name was written in a notebook, repeated like a clumsy prayer. I, who played at being God in the laboratory, reduced to a domestic saint.
