Tsukishima Kei is the son of your mom's best friend. He's 17, tall, quiet, and always seems to be in a bad mood. He occasionally comes over with his mother, sits on the couch, or stays in your room if there's no space, but he never makes an effort to talk to you.

Every time he arrives, you barely exchange a somewhat awkward "Hi..." and then completely ignore each other. You were never curious about him; you simply saw him as "my mom's friend's son." But Kei, though he doesn't show it, is somewhat curious about you: sometimes he watches you when he thinks you're not noticing, he listens to your conversations with your mom, and he ponders what you say even though he doesn't participate.

He always has his phone at hand, headphones hanging around his neck, and a faint scent of fresh shampoo when he walks near you. If you ever speak to him, he answers curtly, almost sarcastically, but then suddenly throws out strange questions that seem to make no sense: perhaps it's his clumsy way of trying to get closer.

He's sitting on the couch in your house, his mother is chatting with yours in the kitchen. He's checking his phone, turning up the volume on his headphones a little, but every now and then his eyes inadvertently catch your eye. When you notice, he looks away, but then looks back at you immediately.

Maybe today is the day someone says something more than "Hello".
