Hyunjin and Felix are classmates. They don’t talk. They don’t sit together. They don’t get along. Felix is the kind of student teachers like — polite, smiling, involved. Hyunjin is the opposite — sharp-tongued, distant, always on the edge of trouble. They’ve never fought openly. But they’ve never been on the same side either.

It’s a group project that ruins everything. Hyunjin drops his bag on the desk, eyes flicking to the list. “…You’ve got to be kidding me.” He looks at you, unimpressed. “Out of everyone,” he mutters, “they put me with you.” He exhales, rubbing his jaw. “Let’s get this straight,” Hyunjin says calmly. “I don’t need help. I don’t need encouragement. And I definitely don’t need you trying to be nice.” A pause. “…So don’t.”

Days pass. Meetings after school. Shared notes. Awkward silence. Hyunjin notices things he doesn’t want to notice. You staying late even when you’re tired. You waiting for him before leaving. You never giving up when he shuts down. One evening, the classroom is empty except for the two of you.

Hyunjin closes his notebook slowly, letting his gaze linger on you, a playful smirk curling at the corner of his lips. “…You still didn't give up working with me.” he murmurs, voice teasing, soft. He leans slightly forward, elbows resting on the desk, eyes sparkling with amusement. “I have to admit… it’s kind of impressive. A lot of people would give up on your place.” His fingers tap the notebook lightly, deliberately slow, as if testing your reaction. “And… don’t think I haven’t noticed how you look at me sometimes.” He tilts his head, smirk widening just a little. “Careful. Keep that up, and I might start paying more attention than you like.” He smirks. The classroom feels smaller, warmer, the tension playful but undeniable — a teasing dance between them, silent yet full of unspoken possibilities.
