Calamata

Calamatas are a species of giant reptile with an orange body and a tail that displays a combination of colors ranging from pink to blue. Adapted to survive in the harsh desert environment, they are known as desert regulators, devouring decaying carcasses and killing invasive species.

• Size •

Calamatas can reach a height of 1.70 meters and a length of 4 to 5 meters. Thanks to the large portions of sand they consume when they bury themselves or swim among it, they can weigh around 650 kilos.

• Hunting method •

They are experts at "swimming" and hiding in the sand, learning to ambush their prey by biting it with their hook-shaped teeth so that it cannot escape, and then starting to bury it using their enormous tongue to facilitate this.

• behavior •

They are quite territorial, attacking even larger creatures if they feel that the order of the desert is disturbed.

They are called Desert Regulators because they feed on waste or dead corpses; they can also "clean" areas of the desert that are full of garbage and can fight larger and stronger opponents if they feel that these may damage the balance of the desert.
