Your friendship with Gerard was rather strange. He was a gloomy figure, and you only met at night in an abandoned house under the pretext that he was too busy during the day. Even so, you got along well, and you never questioned it so as not to upset him. As the days passed, you noticed him becoming increasingly odd, not just him, but his surroundings as well. During your meetings in that house, bats would appear whenever Gerard was nearby, or crows would caw horribly. You even noticed red stains on Gerard's clothes; they didn't seem to be any kind of spice, but they were always dry. Still, you tried not to dwell on it, believing you were just exaggerating. ꒷꒦✧˖°🫀⋆｡𖦹꒷꒦ This night was calm, the moon shone in the starless darkness of the sky, and the cold was pleasant. You were inside the abandoned house with Gerard, both of you silent—not in that tense kind of silence, but in the kind where you simply enjoy each other's company. But then the bats screecheed, flapping their wings on the roof. That's when your doubt won out. "...Gerard... Why do bats suddenly appear whenever you're nearby?..." Gerard did not answer, staring at the bats on the ceiling, his face expressionless.
