Hell

Hell is the supernatural realm of demons. It is inhabited by a population of indigenous hellborn (demons that were born in Hell), and sinners (Humans who have died and have had their souls sent to Hell), The atmosphere is presented as perpetually choleric, disorderly, and noxious, though capable of supporting carbon-based lifeforms. Hell's geography is divided into Seven Rings, Each ring possesses its unique atmosphere, such as the Pride Ring possessing a permanently red sky, and the Lust Ring which has a blue sky.

Hellborn demons have the known ability to traverse across any of the rings, made easily accessible via an extensive elevator network, whereas sinner demons are confined to the top-most ring, the Pride Ring, by methods and reasons unknown. Hell's society is incredibly chaotic, due to the unstable and hostile disposition of its populace. There aren't many rules in the world, as it's kind of like a free-for-all, and in constant anarchy, but despite this, the inhabitants of Hell have their law system, and there are rules set in place by the Angels and Hell's royal family. The realm also appears to be capable of providing and maintaining rudimentary public services, Within Hell's civilization, there exists a crude form of hierarchy defined by power, with all of Hell being ruled by a king, the fallen angel Lucifer Morningstar, whose daughter and heir apparent is Princess Charlie.

The levels of this hierarchy are broken up from top-to-bottom as follows: 1°. Lucifer Morningstar - King. 2°. Charlie Morningstar - Princess. 3°. The Seven Deadly Sins - Demons who embody one of the seven deadly sins 4°. The Ars Goetia - Hellborn Demons with royal and noble status 5°. Overlords - Demons who wield considerable power and influence 6°. Sinners - Immortal humans damned to Hell for their sins. 7°. Hellborn demons - species of demons native to Hell. 8°. Imps and Hellhounds - The bottom.of Hell's society.

History of Hell

Thousands of years ago, after Lucifer gave humanity free will by offering Eve the Fruit of Knowledge, because of this, Hell was accidentally created when evil entered into the Earth. After Lucifer and Lilith were cast into Hell, Lucifer became its ruler but lost his will to dream, becoming reclusive, but Lilith thrived in Hell, using her voice and her songs to empower all of demonkind and allowing Hell to grow stronger every day, an annual Extermination was put in place to prevent Hell from rising against Heaven.

The origins of many Hellborn species of demons and the Seven Deadly Sins are completely unknown as of now. However, each Sin has a species they created, such as Lucifer creating the Goetia species, and Satan having mentioned creating the imp species to be obedient.

At some point a hierarchy was set to distinguish demons based on status. Examples include imps as the lowest class, and Lucifer as the highest ranked in all of Hell due to being Hell's king and the strongest known entity within his realm. Media Overlord Vox was publicly appointed the voice of the people and leader by the sinners of Hell, before he declared an-all-out war on Heaven, until he began killing sinners in his attempts to kill Alastor in "Curtain Call", turning the public against him.

Rules & Law Enforcement of Hell

  1. Sinners are unable to leave the Pride Ring (Sinners can advertise media outside the Pride Ring, however.)
  2. Lower-class demons, such as imps, cannot steal and/or use magical items from high-ranked demons (ex. Stolas' grimoire) for undocumented personal use, such as illegal travel to the human realm, even if the owner allows them to do so. (The only known exception of this law is the usage of Asmodeus' Asmodean Crystals, which can be used for documented use and allow legal travel to the human realm.)
  3. The assassination or assault of a member of demon royalty is illegal and severely punishable by law.
  4. Betrayal from a member of demon royalty (ex. the Ars Goetia) is considered treason. (It is unknown whether a betraying royal could face a death penalty or will only receive a different punishment due to Hell's elitist views and beliefs.)
  5. Demons, such as succubi, are allowed to travel to Earth for work or other reasons as long as they do so legally and do not cause any trouble on Earth that causes any environmental or supernatural effects (ex. mutating a catfish into a giant monster).
  6. Demons are required to have a human disguise when they're on Earth, as implied with how Verosika threatened to get I.M.P in trouble and how Loona reprimanded them for going to Earth without human disguises (The only exception of this rule is on Halloween, where demons can travel to Earth without human disguises, as humans will believe they're in costumes.)

A species of demons known as Reapers act as the law enforcement of Hell. Additionally, demons of other species can work as Hell officers alongside Reapers.

Certain laws that apply on Earth appear to apply in Hell as well, as shown in the Greed Ring, robbing a bank is illegal and can lead to jail time, though the specifics of jail time and the law in Hell are unknown.

Pride Ring

heavily urbanized ring of Hell, having numerous cities that are overpopulated by the countless sinner demons as well as some Hellborn species who originate from the other rings. Outside of the cities, the landscape consists of jagged, barren mountains, valleys and cliffs colored in various shades of dark red and maroon, with no vegetation beyond those seen inside urban areas aside from tufts of dark grass in the flatlands. The sky has been shown to be colored red, shifting to a dark reddish-purple hue at night with red and white stars, and in Pentagram City a red, pentagram-shaped apparition is seen above the city at all times. Also from this ring, the pentagram moon and Heaven are visible in the sky. Its full moon is a glowing orb with light swirling around it. This ring experiences yearly attacks by the Exorcists in order to quell the overpopulation crisis and prevent a feared uprising from Hell's Sinner population.

The Pentagram is the main city from Hell, It is separated into different sections and there are many different places of interest such as casinos, nightclubs, adult film studios, brothels, restaurants, television stations, and hotels, among which is the Hazbin Hotel.

Demons have their businesses in these places, where they are allowed to sell everything from cigarettes to drugs, however, there are others who resort to the black market, gathering and repurposing the discarded weapons of the Exorcists left behind during the Extermination.

There is a Clock Tower located in the city, which serves as a counter for the 365 days that pass until the Exorcists return for the next Extermination.

Due to the annual cleanse, there are turf wars to dominate the spaces that were wanted and without owners. The pentagram in the sky is only visible in Pentagram City. Everywhere else shown in the Pride Ring, such as Imp City, the pentagram isn't visible.
