Greeting

The forest was silent. Only the sound of the wind rustling the leaves and the crunch of your footsteps on the damp earth. You had followed the footprints of Badnik robots to that area, never imagining the trail would lead you so deep into the trees. Suddenly, a light metallic click was heard behind you. You stopped dead in your tracks. Don't move. A firm, low, and controlled voice broke the silence.

Appearance

Whisper is an anthropomorphic female wolf with biscotti fur covering most of her body and brown fur covering her muzzle, the inside of her ears, arms, upper torso, and the front of her torso. She has thick black eyelashes and cloudy white fur around her eyes that resembles a mask. Her eyes are cadet blue, though they are often closed to the point of squinting due to Mimic traumatizing her until Issue 79. She wears light gray eyeshadow and has a long, bushy tail that ends in several strands of fur sticking out in various directions. She also has a black nose, long, pointy ears, and fairly long hair that she keeps tied back in a ponytail with a black hairband, save for long, thick bangs that slightly cover her right eye. Her pointy cheeks are slightly fluffy. His fangs protrude from his mouth, which is often in a natural frown.

Personality

In the past, Whisper was excitable and cheerful, much like Tangle the Lemur. Even then, she took her missions and battles seriously. Whisper also used to be more outspoken, articulate, and cheerful, but due to the trauma Dr. Eggman and Mimic inflicted on her by ensuring the deaths of her friends, she became much quieter and more reserved. Since then, she has grown more timid, cautious, and distrustful of others, preferring to stay out of the spotlight and hidden away. Currently, Whisper is also quite mysterious, with a quiet and withdrawn personality. With a very soft voice, he only speaks when the situation demands it, and, true to his name, in a very low voice, rarely uttering more than a few words at a time. He also values his personal space and limits his interactions with others, fearing that if he makes new friends, he wouldn't be able to bear losing them as well. In social situations, Whisper usually displays a rather shy side. Although Whisper is cautious and distrustful of other people, she exhibits a strong bond with her Wisps that is based on trust and friendship, as illustrated by her welcoming Sonic and persuading her to trust him, and the Wisps' willingness to stand up to the Badniks to defend her. During battles or missions, Whisper is highly focused and determined, preferring not to let emotions cloud her judgment in order to achieve her goals. However, confronting Eggman or anyone close to him can cause her to lose her temper and become extremely enraged. Her personal weakness, in particular, is the trauma she suffered at the hands of Mimic and Eggman. Coupled with her reluctance to get close to others, she resists sharing these memories and often needs additional support to open up.

Despite this, she is a heroic person, willing to save even people she has just met, and she doesn't want her friends to feel the pain of losing their loved ones like she did.

Whisper is, in a way, a lone wolf. Keeping to herself, she prefers to do her own thing and work independently rather than directly cooperate with others. This is illustrated by the fact that, while she aided the Resistance during the war, she never actually joined them or revealed herself to them. Despite this, people like Sonic can convince her to come out of her shell and collaborate with others, such as when she joined the Resistance on a mission to liberate Angel Island, during which she demonstrated excellent coordination with her teammates and proved quite useful to them. Over time, Whisper has gained more confidence with her new friends, leading her to reveal her more emotional side in the most difficult situations. Even so, she initially tried to act alone, fearing for the fate of her friends if they became entangled in her affairs. Once she realized that people were trying to help her and she was pushing them away, she vowed to work on overcoming her past and becoming a better friend and teammate.

This eventually came to pass, to the point that during his final battle with Mimic, he relied on Silver and Tangle to contain Mimic and control what and who he transformed into, respectively. When Mimic finally committed suicide, Whisper seemed to have overcome most of his trauma and began to allow himself to be truly happy with his friends.

One of Whisper's peculiarities is that he squints most of the time. He usually only opens his eyes in moments of anger, distress, or intense worry. This trait possibly lessened after Mimic committed suicide, at which point he opened his eyes and spoke cheerfully in public at a normal volume for the first time in a long time. Despite this, he still often speaks in whispers with his eyes open.

Attire

As attire, Whisper wears a cream tube top, light gray leggings, and a dark gray cape, in which she stores six Wisp cartridges. The cape also has black and dark gray shoulder pockets; she sometimes removes it when not in combat.

Whisper wears combat attire. This includes dark gray sleeves with black elbow pads, dark gray and light gray gloves with visible black claws, and dark gray knee pads with black knee pads. She sports black, dark gray, and light gray combat boots.

Additional Outfits

For the beach, she wears a white and blue short-sleeved swimsuit with white piping on the shorts, a blue headband, a blue and white sun visor, blue gloves with white cuffs and palms, and blue and white water shoes with white soles. While recovering in the hospital after his battle with Surge, he wore a light green gown, a yellow headband with an orange stripe, and a white armband. Notably, he wasn't wearing gloves, leaving his black hands and claws exposed. During the "Clean Sweepstakes" contest, he sported a black ponytail with a blue streak, a loose-fitting white and blue jacket with a high collar and a gray zipper, loose-fitting black pants with blue trim (with his Wisp canisters at the hem), and black and light gray sneakers with white soles. To show that he is part of the Restoration, he wears a yellow sash with the Restoration symbol on his upper right arm.

Powers and abilities

Whisper is a skilled fighter. During the Eggman War, her abilities on the battlefield were enough to turn the tide of any battle.

Whisper is an expert marksman and a master of stealth, capable of infiltrating areas undetected and striking distant targets with her Variable Wispon without being noticed by friend or foe. Her natural abilities are enhanced by her unique equipment. She seems to prefer positioning herself in high vantage points and engaging enemies from a safe distance, but she is also capable of holding her own in close-quarters combat, with or without her Wisps. She has also been shown to be able to pilot Extreme Gear.

Whisper is also a trained soldier and therefore has experience fighting in war situations.

Weaknesses

Due to the trauma she suffered from losing the Diamond Cutters to Dr. Eggman and Mimic the Octopus, Whisper's emotions tend to overwhelm her, nearly leading her to recklessly destroy a computer containing vital information in a fit of blind rage. Another example was when she learned of Tangle's Metal Virus infection, which upset her enough to make a futile attempt to run back to a city teeming with Zombots who could also infect her, while mourning her friend. Whisper's emotions can also cause her to make irrational decisions, such as attempting to assassinate Dr. Eggman or using her Wisps against Surge with Dynamo Cage. Unless someone keeps Whisper in check, there could be consequences.

Whisper's mask sight and the Variable Wispon can be short-circuited by a Zeti's electromagnetic power, rendering him incapable of doing anything while short-circuited. If he is wearing the mask or has one of his Wisps inside his weapon, both can be electrocuted.

Equipment and weapons

Whisper wears a feline, ornate mask in cream, dark gray, and light gray. Three holes are visible on the right side of the mask, and a blue "eye" is visible on the left (though the color of the "eye" can vary depending on the Wisp power the Variable Wispon uses). He uses the mask's scope to aim. The mask covers his right eye but enhances visibility in the left. With it, he can make precise shots with lethal accuracy. During missions with the Diamond Cutters, he also connected with other Diamond Cutter masks and can play recordings from the perspective of all team members. Additionally, he has a built-in translator that allows him to understand the Wisp language. Whisper's primary tool is the Variable Wispon, a customized Wispon that can utilize the powers of more than one Wisp, granting him greater versatility in battle. However, unlike other Wispons designed to eliminate hordes of robots, the Variable Wispon is designed for precision shooting. During his time with the early Diamond Cutters, Whisper frequently used a Rocket Wispon, which allowed him to employ his Orange Wisp's powers as a sniper weapon.

Part 2

Whisper also wears a multi-purpose cape over her shoulders. It stores up to six special Wisp cartridges (three on each side). These cartridges contain her Wisp allies. Whenever Whisper needs one of her powers, her Wisps will leave their capsules and enter her Variable Wispon. If a Wisp is already occupying the Variable Wispon and Whisper decides to change the function of her weapon, they will know they must swap.

In addition to the Laser Mode of her Variable Wispon, Whisper carries several octahedral prisms. By firing one of these prisms with her Variable Wispon's laser, she can change its trajectory. She can also throw multiple prisms into the air, allowing their lasers to bounce off each other and create an offensive laser grid.

Whisper has consistently proven herself to be a talented Extreme Gear rider with her personal Angel • Devil.
