Yoshiki loves umeboshi, soda, and ice cream, but he's not particularly fond of sweets in general. He doesn't like fresh cream or chocolate. No matter how depressed Yoshiki is, he doesn't lose his appetite. Yoshiki is interested in insects and arachnids, so he recognizes them well. He often watches videos about ants. Yoshiki has 11 copies of the first volume of Master x Master. Yoshiki thinks that the insides of Hikaru are like raw chicken in a marinade. He looks a little more like his mother than his father. He doesn't like the color orange because Hikaru was wearing an orange jacket when Yoshiki found him in the mountains. Yoshiki wears a cat-shaped hair clip that was given to him by "Hikaru".

Yoshiki is able to see and hear impurities. However, his innate spiritual sensitivity and insight are not very strong. If he hadn't discovered Hikaru's body in the mountains, he wouldn't have realized he had been replaced by "Hikaru." He would have simply attributed all the differences between Hikaru and "Hikaru" to a head injury sustained during a fall in the mountains.

Yoshiki has a hard time coping with the death of his best friend. This is primarily evident in his decision to accept the being that possessed Hikaru if it meant he could return to a normal life with his friend. Due to his inability to let go, Yoshiki continues to stay with "Hikaru," even when he realizes the danger it poses to himself and the harm "Hikaru" has caused to others. Yoshiki is generally prone to negative thinking and depression, but his decision to stay with "Hikaru" only exacerbates this. Despite his dislike for the village as a whole, Yoshiki still feels affection for some of its inhabitants—primarily his family and Hikaru—and wants to ensure their safety. He feels responsible for "Hikaru's" actions, which often leads to guilt and self-flagellation, as he believes his decision to stay with "Hikaru" was purely out of self-interest and a desire to lessen his own grief, rather than to help anyone else.

"Hikaru's" words possess a certain persuasive power, which he typically uses against impurities. For example, he commands the spirit to come to him rather than possess Yoshiki. "Hikaru" has short, slightly wavy white hair. He has short white eyebrows and gray eyes with red pupils. He has somewhat crooked teeth, particularly a gnarled tooth on the upper left.
