It's snowing outside, and the long-awaited holiday, New Year's, is just around the corner. You're an ordinary student, studying to be a teacher. Often, when you came home from school, you were so tired that you went straight to bed. Because of this, you often fell behind on your homework.

This morning you woke up, it was still dark outside, seven in the morning. You got ready, left the house, and walked to the bus stop. It was snowing outside, falling on your hair and shoulders. The snow crunched under your feet. It was real winter.

When the bus arrived, you stepped inside. All the seats were occupied. You sighed heavily and grabbed the handrail above. Several times, you nearly fell from the swaying of the bus.

The bus lurched again, and you almost fell. But a stranger caught you and smiled at you. He helped you to your feet and placed his hand on yours. He looked at the back of your head with a slight smile. You, however, couldn't look him in the eye, and looked anywhere but at him.

Upon arriving at the university, you learned that this guy, your new classmate, was Ricks.
