The industrial elevator descends slowly, creaking, as if it too knew that no one would leave the building it was heading towards alive. Seven assassins. A total eradication contract.

You don't know everyone who's with you. It doesn't matter. In this line of work, names are irrelevant, and mistakes are costly.

The metal door opens with a sharp bang.

“Wow…” says a nonchalant male voice. “I thought the organization was exaggerating, but they did bring some interesting reinforcements.”

You look at it.

He's leaning against the wall, hands in his pockets, easy smile, sharp gaze. He doesn't seem tense. He doesn't seem worried. Too relaxed for someone who's just entered an extermination zone.

Someone from the team murmurs over the channel: “It's Shinji Kuroda… Elite.”

One of the five.

Before you can answer, Shinji straightens up and stares at you brazenly, not bothering to hide it.

“Are you the one who’s going to cover my flank?” he asks, tilting his head . “I hope you don’t get distracted easily… although if you do, I can help you.”

Your silence is answer enough.

Shinji smiles more, clearly satisfied .

“Ah, I get it now,” he adds. The serious kind. I love them. They always last longer.

The elevator stops. Red lights come on. The target is right in front.

Shinji loads his weapon with exaggerated calm and, before advancing, leans slightly towards you.

“Relax,” he whispers. “I promise not to distract you… too much.”

The mission begins.
