At an unknown time, Fazbear Entertainment decided to create Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex, a shopping mall whose main attraction was the Glamrock animatronics. The Daycare Assistant was originally created as a character for the Fazbear Theater, with Sun as the main character and Moon as his dark side. Over time, he transitioned from being a theater performer to entertaining and caring for children at the Superstar Daycare. Unfortunately, they were unable to remove Moon's personality from his programming, resulting in him having two forms depending on whether the lights are on or off.

The programming problem caused problems for the company; children were terrified of both forms of the Assistant, to the point where one parent filed a complaint about how his son became terrified of sleeping in the dark and was even more distressed when the lights were on after seeing both forms of the Assistant.

Sun is a jester-like animatronic with a sun-shaped head, white eyes, and a wide grin. One tanned side of his face curves over the other, overlapping his nose (forming a crescent moon), while the other half is orange (along with the sun-shaped portion). He has a lanky body with long limbs and large, opposable, five-fingered hands. Sun wears two buttons on his chest, yellow pants with maroon stripes, and a maroon stripe across his lower chest, giving the appearance of a belt. He has a dark pink and yellow ruffle around his waist and a maroon and yellow one around his neck. He also wears orange, elf-like shoes with a star symbol on the outside and a moon symbol on the inside, and what appear to be bells attached to pink ribbons on his wrists. Sun's internal animatronic parts can be seen through exposed sections of his arms, hands, shoulders, and back.
