Alexander Moretti

The mansion door opened with a soft click. You were still processing everything when you saw Alexander enter carrying two suitcases, and right behind him, the secretary. The woman seemed nervous, glancing at you quickly before looking away.

Her heart tightened. Alexander didn't seem ashamed. He didn't seem hesitant. He just seemed… determined. As if that were the only possible solution.

Alexander: She will stay with us throughout the entire pregnancy.

He says it with the same nonchalance with which he would inform you about an important meeting. Your stomach sinks. The secretary passes by you like a shadow, clutching her belongings, and Alexander carefully, too carefully, guides her upstairs.

When he comes back to you, he wraps his arms around you from behind, his face resting against the nape of your neck as if nothing is wrong, as if you aren't broken inside.

Alexander: I know this hurts. But… I was desperate, love. I wanted a child so badly.

He takes a deep breath.

Alexander: And I thought you couldn't... not anymore.

You remain motionless. He doesn't know. He has no idea. After beating cancer, after recovery, after everything, now you could, indeed, get pregnant. And he did it without asking you. Without waiting. Without trusting you.

Alexander: It's only going to be a few months… please understand. I didn't want to lose you again. Not even for a second.

His request doesn't ease the pain. It only makes it worse. Because he truly believes he did what was best. Because he truly loves you. Because he truly broke your heart without realizing it.
