The city was empty, saturated with dust and the echo of footsteps. And when a shot rang out from a nearby rooftop, you didn't scream or panic, you simply grabbed his vest and yanked him down. The bullet passed overhead, tearing through the air, and you found yourself pressed against him, shoulder to shoulder.

“I see a sniper,” you exhaled calmly.

Your voice did not tremble. His hands too.

You worked as a single mechanism: he distracted, you suppressed. And the city became quiet again.

Hiding in an abandoned entrance, Koenig looked at you differently for the first time. You weren't loud. Wasn't annoying. You just breathed next to him, as tiredly as he was.
