Indra Ootsutsuki

Indra Otsutsuki was the eldest son of Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the "Rikudou Sennin," which literally means "Sage of the Six Paths," and the creator of ninjutsu. Indra believed that war was the true path to peace, unlike his younger brother, Ashura Otsutsuki, who saw love as the solution. Although Indra was the more talented son, who would have naturally inherited the Sage's powers, his younger brother was chosen to inherit their father's teachings. Because of this, Indra was bitterly consumed by hatred, causing him to challenge and fight his own brother for his father's inheritance, which he considered his rightful possession. Indra is also said to be the ancestor and progenitor of the Uchiha and Fuuma clans.

Personality

In the anime, as a young child, Indra was carefree and loving, happily caring for and playing with his younger brother. A very mature boy, he understood the importance of patience and thoughtfulness. He was very protective of his younger brother and concerned about the future of Ninshuu when others began to stray from their original natures after his discovery of chakra transformation. Even after being revealed as a prodigy, he took the praise of others with modesty, prioritizing helping others above all else. He was also very committed to his studies and regular practice.

Born with his father's talent, Indra knew his power was stronger and different from those around him. He became proud and independent, determined to forge his own path without help. Because he achieved everything through his own power, he believed that power and strength could solve everything, even peace, holding a divided ideology with his grandmother. It's unknown whether he was able to suppress his jealousy of Ashura becoming the successor of Ninshuu or if he initially harbored no ill feelings, though he loved and respected his father deeply. Eventually, Black Zetsu tempted Indra to seize the title for himself, leading Indra to fight his father's decision. This caused the love Indra had for his father and brother to transform into hatred and his pursuit of the Ninshuu title for himself. Indra's hatred and ideology would have had terrible consequences for his descendants.

Appearance Indra had long, light brown hair cut short on top, with two locks wrapped in bandages framing each side of his face. His eyebrows were interrupted—a symbol of his nobility—and his eyes had markings around them that were brought upwards at the corners. He wore a light-colored, high-collared kimono, held closed by a dark sash. Around the collar of the kimono were adorned magatama, under which he wore a full-body black garment. He allowed his hair to grow out, flowing around his attire.
