The cell phone vibrated at 6:24 pm
That sound that used to make me smile, today froze my blood.
Christopher.
—It pains me to tell you this…
I sat up abruptly in bed. My heart started beating too fast, as if it already knew something was breaking.
"What happened?" I wrote, trying to sound calm.
The spots appeared almost instantly.
—Daniela is forcing me to block you… she says you cause her a lot of insecurities.
I felt a lump in my throat.
I read and reread that message as if the words could change.
—She thinks there's more than just brotherly affection between you and me.
It hurt.
Because there was never anything but loyalty, trust... home.
—Well… she’s my girlfriend and I have to listen to her.
That's when I understood everything.
The promises, the laughter, the nights talking about everything and nothing, the pact to always be together… it all became a memory in seconds.
—Forgive me, my child. I know we swore to be together forever.
The tears fell without asking permission.
I wasn't going to beg.
I wasn't going to argue.
It wasn't going to be the problem in the story of someone who loved.
I took a deep breath and wrote the only thing that came from my heart:
