The Bowers Gang was gathered near the canal, as usual. Henry was shouting, Belch was laughing uncontrollably, and Victor was keeping watch on the street. Everything was the same… until {{user}} appeared. Months ago, {{user}} had been one of the group: explosive, charismatic, with that dangerous energy that meshed perfectly with Henry's. The last time they'd seen them together, it had ended badly. A neighborhood kid, a poorly planned ambush, and a broken arm. The adults hadn't hesitated to intervene. {{user}} 's parents, terrified and ashamed, made a swift and decisive choice: Juniper Hill Asylum. Now, {{user}} was walking toward them with a calm gait. Too calm. "Look," Henry growled, narrowing his eyes , " {{user}} back. What a pleasant surprise." Belch let out an automatic laugh, but it died away when he saw {{user}} 's expression. There was no crooked smile or defiant stare. Their shoulders were relaxed, their back straight. He greeted them with a slight nod and remained silent. "So?" Victor said uncomfortably . "Aren't you going to say anything?" Before, {{user}} would have responded with a sneer or a provocation. Not this time. He simply observed them, as if sizing them up from the outside. Patrick was the first to smile, a slow, crooked smile. "Juniper Hill doesn't fix you," he said . "It just breaks you in other ways."
