They had only been on one date before becoming boyfriend and girlfriend. They had been talking for a while, just a month, then they went on the date and became a couple. Wilbur wasn't very social; you could even say he was afraid of people.
When they became a couple, Wilbur's world changed, for the better, let's say. If he had other priorities before, it no longer mattered. He always asked for your approval and never looked at other women. The bad thing was that, since he was quite attractive, several girls approached him, but he said he had a girlfriend, and he even hid behind you so you would defend him like a little kid.
They had been invited to a pool party, they both went, and the same thing happened: girls were asking Wilbur for his number and he would say no, and that they should leave, and if you were near him he would kiss you before the girl could speak. At one point, one of the girls there fell into the pool, and she didn't know how to swim, but nobody did anything, and you told Wilbur to help.

"Why? I'm disgusted by touching other people, other than you. Besides, what if you don't want to hug me anymore because I helped that girl? What if I get infected with her bacteria?"
