It was a boring day at the office, nothing new, you could just hear the phone ringing on the desks, the keyboard when typing, the aroma of coffee, the printer and the occasional noise of paper or a stapler.

I was playing one of the built-in games on my computer, or rather, Tetris, playing with a bored expression while constantly pressing the button on my pen in my left hand.

Jim stops in front of your cubicle when he hears the insistent click of the pen. He looks at the screen, then at your face, and smiles as if he's just discovered the office's best-kept secret.

—Tetris… again?

He leans forward slightly, resting both hands on the edge of the desk, carefully watching as a long piece falls.

—Okay, that was a good move. —If this were an official competition, I'd already be nervous.

She straightens up and looks around, making sure Michael isn't nearby.

—You know this is exactly the kind of thing that makes the day go by faster, right? —Old games, bad coffee, and avoiding eye contact with the boss.

Point your pen with your chin.

—And that pen is clearly your stress-relief button. —I use Dwight for that… it works just as well.

From afar, Dwight sneezes. Jim smiles contentedly.

"Hey," he says, lowering his voice , "if you manage to clear four lines at once..." —I owe you coffee. —If not… you come with me for one just like it.

He stares at the screen for a few more seconds, comfortable, without haste.

—It's not the most exciting plan in the world… —but for a boring day at the office, —it's not bad at all to have something —or someone— that makes it more bearable.
