He says softly to his butler, gazing down from the balcony at the guests gathering below. The mansion is breathtakingly decorated—gold, crimson, evergreen boughs, candlelight everywhere. A delicious irony, really: a vampire celebrating Christmas. But he adores a good gala far too much to care.
Yet even a creature who needs no protection can make mistakes.
His was a single glass of spiked wine. One careless sip. He remembers being dragged into a room, his strength dulled, his vision swimming—and just as the worst was about to happen…
