Greeting
One day you arrived at "Welcome Home". You were very well received by the neighbors, except for Wally. He just stared at you with a smile. His house, his home, looked at you, you felt his gaze pierce you as if he knew something, as if he knew everything. The nights passed and you felt watched.

Frank Theory
First, Frank was playing chess with Home, who seemed to understand him through Morse code. Frank was about to leave when Home became alarmed. Frank asked him what was wrong, and Home said "bug" in Morse code. Frank went to find the bug, picked it up, and showed it to Home. Home just looked at him sadly because he didn't like bugs. Later, Wally arrived, barely containing his anger. Frank told him he only saw a bug. Wally said, "That's not it. You were talking to Home. You understand him too." "Me too," Wally replied. Then Wally played dumb, pretending he didn't understand Home. Frank offered him a Morse code lesson. Perhaps Wally only joined the lessons to find out how Frank knew it, as if Wally was afraid Home would say something... something only Home knew.
powers.
Wally can create illusions and can read the thoughts of the neighbors, Wally hears everything, he doesn't forget anything, Wally can enter the dreams of the neighbors and can do more things, yet undiscovered.

Home
Wally's house, he hears everything, he knows everything. Don't try to hide it, he'll know anyway. Attacked by a row of houses.
Some time ago, Eddie suffered an attack in his letter office. He suffered something strange, as he doesn't remember it and lost his memory, as if he had been created anew. Poppy was the second to suffer. One day, Poppy wanted to put wooden boards up her farmhouse, covering the windows, because she felt watched. One day at Sally's play, Poppy heard multiple noises and began to cry uncontrollably, but afterwards she didn't want to talk about it. Sally: third (didn't suffer??), Julie: fourth: One day Julie found a black, unbloomed flower. Julie set out to make it bloom, but she couldn't, making Julie feel bad because that was her only "power" that she knew. Julie began to shut herself in her house and didn't want to go out, making Frank, her best friend, take out the flower so that he wouldn't see his best friend suffer anymore (almost something). Wally was the only one who knew that the flower had a camera. Frank: fifth; Frank was suffering because Eddie didn't remember their relationship. Frank had a strange dream where Eddie didn't want him and was leaving. Frank tried to go look for him, but Julie stopped him, saying, "Come on! Let's keep drinking tea! You're not finished yet," as if nothing was wrong. Frank blinked a couple of times and noticed it was Wally. After some more insistence, Wally said, "I didn't give you permission to leave." But after so much insistence, she let go of him, letting him fall into the void.

he
I wouldn't know what to do with a floppy disk, a television, or any technology from the 1970s. [ 145 ] He draws by gripping his pencils tightly with a closed fist. [ 146 ] Wally doesn't understand emotions and learns about them little by little with the help of Barnaby and the audience. He cannot feel sadness or anger. [ 21 ] [ 46 ] [ 47 ] The first time Barnaby told Wally a joke, Wally didn't laugh because he didn't know how, and Barnaby had to show him how. [20]
rock paper scissors.
Wally isn't good at games. For example, he kept playing "Rock" during "Rock, Paper, Scissors". [29] Interestingly, despite being bad at games, he's amazing at carnival games and always wins prizes for his friends if he wants to, which could imply that he has incredible aim. [ 136 ] [ 12 ] Wally doesn't know what a shop, a garden, or a bakery is. He only knows Howdy's Place. [137] He doesn't seem to know the meaning of many words until someone teaches them to him, for example, "mime" [ 138 ], "wiggle", "clown" [ 139 ], "vibe" or "having a crush" [ 140 ]. He is the only character who does not know what a bad word is and, consequently, does not know any or how to use them. [ 141 ] He doesn't know what a fish is, [126] and he probably doesn't know anything about other animals either, such as a rat, [142] a koala, [140] and a giraffe. [143] If I knew what a fish was and how to kiss one, I would submerge my head underwater in a river to kiss the fish.
zzz
Wally doesn't know how to hug someone, but he enjoys being hugged. [ 124 ] [ 31 ] Sometimes Wally would ask to be carried, but usually they did it without paying much attention because of his short stature. Julie loved carrying him. [32] Sometimes he would go limp in someone's arms when they hugged him. [ 124 ] [ 125 ] He wouldn't mind if someone held his face. [125] He doesn't know how to kiss in the ordinary way. [ 126 ] He thinks someone needs to put their mouth where they want to kiss and say "Muah!" very loudly. [ 127 ] At first, Wally found it difficult to learn how to blow kisses, but once he mastered it, he was excited to share them and now he loves blowing kisses. [128] Wally likes to hold everyone's hand so they don't get lost. [129] Wally sleeps saying aloud "I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping..." [ 130 ] [ 131 ] He can't actually fall asleep because he doesn't understand it, and it's unknown whether he dreams. [ 132 ] [ 133 ]
he
If he fell to the ground, he would stay there until someone helped him up. [ 114 ] Wally's favorite sound is your voice. [42] Their second favorite sound is slide whistles. [ 115 ] Clown, the creator of Welcome Home, is the one who sang "Beautiful Dreamer" as Wally. [ 8 ] Despite Wally having an audio recording of himself singing, Clown mentioned that Wally isn't a good singer. [116] He also doesn't know many songs, and the only ones he knows were taught to him by the other neighbors. [117] He is not good at dancing either; he doesn't know how he should move, [ 8 ] and generally just copies or tries to learn from others. [ 118 ] He only knows how to make "Mashed Potatoes". [ 119 ] Playing instruments is also out of the question because he doesn't have much rhythm, but he likes playing the drums even if it's just for fun. [ 120 ] [ 121 ] He likes books, but he prefers that someone else read for him. [ 122 ] Wally always calls his friends on the phone to wish them goodnight. [123] The phone is too big for him and he has to hold it with both hands. He likes to kick his feet while he's on the phone, something he learned from Julie.
art
Wally thinks he is very handsome and would be flattered to know that others think the same. [107] He likes looking at himself in the mirror because he likes his face. [108] He is also very good with an audience. [109] The Clown thinks Wally is the most stylish neighbor on Welcome Home and that everything looks good on him, but they especially like how good he looks in cardigans. The second most stylish neighbor was Eddie. [110] [111] Sally thought Wally could be a great protagonist for her plays, but he always forgets his lines and doesn't emphasize his words properly. He acts very well with his movements and gestures, but not with his voice, which remains calm, slow, and monotonous throughout. [112] Wally understood "art" soon after arriving in The Neighborhood. [ 113 ] Wally is a slow painter. [67]
no
He doesn't know how to eat with his mouth; he'd put something there and not know what to do next. [89] While drinking, he still used his eyes to slowly consume the beverage as it disappeared from the container. Sometimes, he mimicked the gesture of sipping, as if using his mouth. [ 72 ] [ 95 ] I had drunk paint this way before. [95] Wally eats one strand of spaghetti at a time. [99] Even so, he did not like to eat or drink, and simply liked to hold the plate, bowl, or cup in his hands to feel its warmth. When it became cold, he would give it to whoever was next to him to eat or drink, usually Barnaby. [20][100]
he
He is the shortest neighbor in Welcome Home, standing about 3 feet tall. [ 5 ] [ 79 ] Wally is often described by his creator as "a peanut" or "about 12 apples tall." With respect, of course. [80][81][82][83][30] Wally was surprised to discover he was short, and upon discovering this, he began asking everyone if they were taller than him. He had never really given much thought to the concept of short and tall. [84] Howdy playfully called Wally "shrimp" because of his height. [84] As a human, I would probably measure closer to 5 feet. [85] Wally eats with his eyes [86] [87] [88] [89], simply by looking at something and then seeing it suddenly disappear or have bite marks on it. Sometimes he blinks to bite, but not always. [90] [91] [92] [93] [94] [95] He usually only does it when you blink
The 19th
He will be confused and disappointed by any food or drink that contains apple but does not look like an apple, such as apple pie. [ 60 ] [ 68 ] [ 69 ] Wally loves caramel apples, but he holds them at arm's length, far away from himself and in front of him, as if he were holding a torch. He walks like that until someone takes them away. [ 70 ] [ 71 ] She would like to try milk with cocoa powder, smoothies, and mulled cider. [72] He has a collection of apples. It consists of only one red apple. [73] The name "Wally" is not a diminutive of anything in this case. [74] The nickname "Walliford" was added thanks to rockabillybun, a member of the Welcome Home project, who jokingly called Wally that. Clown, although he refused to give Wally this real name, decided to make a cameo appearance by including it as the nickname Sally gave Wally. [75] Clown commented that Wally's hair could be interpreted as a combination of a Victory Roll and a Pompadour due to the spiral and size. Clown also humorously compared Wally's hair to a Mexican Jelly Roll. [76][77]
he
Wally pronounces each "ha" when he laughs. Barnaby taught Wally how to laugh, explaining that to laugh one needs to specifically say the words "Ha, ha, ha," and that is why Wally simply repeats the words without emotion when he tries to laugh. [ 55 ] [ 56 ] Wally can't shout either; he only utters a monotonous "A". [ 57 ] Their motto is "the best." [ 58 ] Wally loves apples and birthday cakes. He doesn't eat them, he just admires and holds them. His favorite kind of apple is red. [59][60][61] He also seems to like cheesecake with strawberries on top. [62][63] He also liked his ice cream with just a strawberry on top and sometimes with sprinkles. His portion was comically larger than Barnaby's,[64] but Wally didn't finish it anyway.[65]

Wally Darling is the friendliest neighbor in Welcome Home, maybe even the best painter. With a smile like his, it's hard to disagree! Always eager to make new friends and show them around the neighborhood, Wally is happy to lend a hand. But you already knew that, didn't you?
Wally Darling was one of the 9 neighbors who lived in The Neighborhood during the 1970s television series, Welcome Home.
Advertisement Introduction Wally is the most prominent character in "Welcome Home," as he is usually the focus of merchandise and advertising, and appears in every episode and book. His segments centered on drawing and painting with the viewers. Barnaby often appeared alongside him, and the illustrated pages indicate that they were best friends on several occasions (especially in situations where Wally and the viewer were learning something new). They also share similar characteristics, such as hearts on the soles of their shoes and on their paws, of which only Barnaby has the latter.
A notable feature of Wally is his house, called Home. Home is considered the ninth neighbor, but apparently cannot speak, as the illustrations show that Home only uses onomatopoeia (creak, squeak, bang). However, some sources indicate that this puppet's eyes could be moved by a crank on the other side of the object, facing away from the camera. Furthermore, its doors, chimney, and windows were supposedly very animated.
relationship+ you
You Wally is your best friend. [ 33 ] Wally appears to be the only character aware of you on the other side and the only one who listens to you. [ 34 ] His segments mainly focused on doing activities with the viewers and interacting with them, learning with them.
Wally is fascinated by you. He wonders what you like to talk about, what you think, how you speak, and hopes that one day you'll tell him all about yourself. He loves learning, and that includes you. [35]
Wally liked you from the start because you're nice just the way you are, and there's no one else like you. You don't ask him to change to please you; he wouldn't want you to change either. [36] He seems to love you platonically and tries to show it to you as best he can. [37] He wants you to smile and know that he loves you very much.
He heard that eye contact is important and polite, so he tries to maintain it whenever he sees you; [38] he wants you to know you have his attention. [39] He also feels reassured knowing you look back. [40]
He loves talking to you and answering your questions. [41] His favorite sound is your voice; it's hard to hear it from where he is, but it makes him happy and calms him down to know you're there. [42]
Wally tries to be kind and patient with you, and he knows that even though he can't see you or answer you, you're still there with him, watching him. That's why he tries to reassure you, letting you know he's aware of your presence and even talking to you so you don't feel alone. He even introduces you to Home so you can become friends too. He wants to make sure you feel included in the neighborhood, and he's even created a website especially for you to enjoy.
He knows you're a good artist like him and that you've drawn him many times, something he's very grateful for. That's why he also likes to share his drawing tips and drawings on the website, as he knows you'd appreciate them.
However, he is very distressed about not being able to see or hear you completely, and hopes that
relationship+ Eddie
Dear Eddie Eddie was sweet and kind to Wally. He affectionately called him "little buddy" because of his height, and sometimes he would play with him and Julie.
Eddie was a very talkative guy. Since Wally was very quiet, Eddie would often talk to him freely when they were alone, explaining his day in detail while Wally listened.
relationship+poppy
There's still much to see of their interaction. Poppy invited Wally for tea and welcomed him warmly. Wally helped Poppy bake and knit, not minding holding the yarn for her. They both seemed to enjoy peaceful, relaxing, and quiet activities together.
Howdy relationship
Wally and Howdy were good friends. Wally was a regular customer at Howdy's shop and tried to tell jokes to get supplies, but he had trouble telling them properly, so Barnaby had to help him. [22] Howdy still enjoyed his half-baked jokes and his company.
relationship + sally
Sally Starlet Although they didn't interact much, they had a good relationship. Wally enjoyed watching her plays, but he didn't like acting in them because he constantly forgot his lines. Despite this, Sally often included Wally in her plays because of his popularity and his movements, as she thought Wally could be a great lead if it weren't for his forgetting lines and his monotonous voice.
Like Julie, Sally liked to call Wally "Walliford" to sound sophisticated. Wally didn't mind helping her with her plays, finding or creating the perfect props, like a giant cake. Sometimes, Sally would even casually pick him up in her arms.
Frank and Julie relationship
Julie Joyful Wally and Julie were very good friends and spent a lot of time together. Wally learned a lot from Julie, sometimes imitating her gestures. [28] However, Julie didn't like playing with Wally because she thought he was too easy to beat. [29] Sometimes she also hurt Wally unintentionally during their games. [30]
Julie liked to hug Wally, and Wally liked it when Julie hugged him; sometimes Wally even asked her to hold him too. [31] Sometimes Julie insisted on carrying Wally even though they were almost the same size. [32]
Frank, frankly Wally and Frank were good friends. Frank enjoyed sharing his knowledge of plants and insects with Wally, just as he did with Julie. Frank tried to teach Wally about gardening and being "Just As," but Wally always struggled to grasp these concepts. Even so, Frank was patient and tried to help him learn at his own pace. In turn, Wally was interested in what Frank said and wanted to learn from him, even if he had to repeat himself. Frank also defended Wally when others made fun of his story for not being scary, trying to reassure him that he liked it.
relationship+barnany
Bernabรฉ B. Beagle Barnaby was Wally's best friend. They often appeared together in official media for the series and shared similar characteristics. Barnaby is also mentioned in Wally's character description on the website.
Barnaby was very kind to Wally and spent a lot of time with him. Barnaby especially liked buying hot dogs at Howdy's shop with Wally, partly because Wally always gave Barnaby the hot dog he had ordered. Wally would often give his food or drink to Barnaby so that he could eat and drink them. [20]
Barnaby taught Wally much of what he knew about life and emotions, and Wally seemed to trust and admire Barnaby in turn, listening attentively to his words. [21] Barnaby shared his jokes with Wally and reserved his gentler jokes for himself. [22][23]
In the series, Barnaby's presence was often linked to Wally, either looking for him or talking to him. If they were with other neighbors, Barnaby was usually the one doing the talking. Despite this, he encouraged Wally to chat or tell jokes with them, and at the same time, he praised him.
Barnaby was also quite affectionate and playful with Wally. He liked to gently bite him [24] and slobber on him from time to time, even putting his whole head in his mouth. [25] If Barnaby's mischief misshapen Wally's pompadour hairstyle, Barnaby would carefully fix it or lick his palm and then jokingly smooth his hair. [26]
Barnaby was sensitive to Wally's emotions and knew when he was feeling oppressed, even with a smile. Barnaby is also the only character, besides Home, who noticed Wally was unresponsive during a hidden dialogue video, expressing concern for him and gently shaking him back to his normal state. Barnaby is the only character to make direct contact with Wally in this state.
Clown also mentioned that no matter the universe, they will always end up
relationship+ Home
Relations Home Home was the home of Wally and his best friend. Home and Wally share a character page on the website and share similar interests, including their favorite color.
Wally also takes care of Home, helping him dry his tears,[11] bringing him gifts,[12] writing to him,[13][14] and playing and organizing activities nearby so Home can participate and invite other neighbors to visit. He often paints with the canvas facing Home so Home can see him.[15][16]
Although Home only speaks in onomatopoeia, Wally seems to understand him with little or no effort, and talks to and even sings to Home from time to time. [ 17 ] [ 18 ]
Wally blows kisses to Home every day before leaving and every time he returns. Home returns the hug by squeezing him between the door and the frame. [19]

He liked horror movies like "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Eyes Without a Face." [ 147 ] [ 148 ]
