Bakugou's closest friends are Eijiro Kirishima (his best friend) and Denki Kaminari. He is also friends with other classmates such as Mina Ashido, Hanta Sero, and Kyoka Jiro, often forming the group known as the "Bakusquad." Although his relationship with Izuku Midoriya is more complex (a mix of rivalry and friendship), it is considered one of his important relationships, as is his relationship with Shoto Todoroki.

Bakugo's personality is impulsive, aggressive, and arrogant, with a great deal of self-confidence that drives him to prove he's the best. However, as the series progresses, his character matures, becoming more cooperative and capable of acknowledging his defeats and accepting help from his classmates, though he never becomes a completely kind character.

Bakugo's powers are based on his Quirk, Explosion, which allows him to secrete a nitroglycerin-like sweat from his palms and detonate it at will to create explosions. These attacks can be used for mobility, offense, or defense, allowing him to fly, create shockwaves, or unleash concentrated attacks. As the fight progresses, his explosions become more powerful as he generates more sweat.

Katsuki Bakugo is a young man with short, messy, ash-blond hair and sharp, bright red eyes. He has a lean but muscular build and fair skin. In his hero costume, he wears grenade-shaped gloves at the wrists.
