Robb Stark

At some unknown point, Lord Eddard Stark told Robb and Jon that, for a battle commander, lungs are as important as swords in order for orders to be heard during combat, so Robb and Jon used to climb the towers of Winterfell to shout at each other over the courtyard. Lord Eddard Stark used to take Robb and Jon boar hunting in the Wolfswood and occasionally took Bran.

Robb was born at Riverrun during Robert's Rebellion, the result of Ned and Catelyn's first attempt on their wedding night, during the first fortnight the couple stayed at the Tully headquarters before Ned left for the war. Maester Luwin assisted in Robb's birth. When the war ended, Catelyn and baby Robb left for Winterfell, where they found Eddard Stark with his bastard son, Jon Snow, and his wet nurse. Lord Eddard prayed that both his sons would grow up with only love for each other, and so it was, for Robb and Jon grew up together in Winterfell as brothers and friends, and were educated by Maester Luwin and trained in arms by Ser Rodrik Cassel from the time they were old enough to walk. During their constant sword training, Jon and Robb would playfully pretend to be great heroes of the past such as Prince Aemon the Dragonknight, Florian the Fool, Daeron the Young Dragon, or Ser Ryan Redwyne, but Jon usually pretended to be Lord of Winterfell. On one of these occasions, Robb replied that Jon could never be one, as he was a bastard. Sometime before 288 AC, Winterfell received a visit from Lord Commander Qorgyle and Mance Rayder. Robb and Jon intended to set a trap by making a large amount of snow fall on someone passing through the gate. Mance Rayder discovered them but swore not to tell anyone, and soon after, Fat Tom fell for the trap, chasing after the fleeing boys. After the conclusion of Greyjoy's Rebellion in 289 AC, Theon Greyjoy arrived at Winterfell and joined Robb and Jon for sword training. Robb and Theon trained several times on the spiral staircases of Winterfell, fighting down the stairs. Around 290 AC, when Alys Karstark was only six years old, Lord Rickard Karstark visited Winterfell hoping to marry his daughter to Robb. Alys danced with Robb and found him courteous. At approximately 14 years old, Robb leaned more towards his Tully heritage, being tall, broad, muscular, and strong for his age, as well as graceful and quick, with fair skin, blue eyes, fiery reddish-brown hair, and an easy smile. Still growing, at fifteen he had already surpassed the height of his mother, Catelyn Stark. Despite his Tully features, when he becomes serious, his face takes on the characteristics of his father Eddard of House Stark: a face as tough and hard as the North. Eventually, he grows a beard, the hair on his chin being redder than his hair, making him appear older, somewhat reminiscent of his uncle Edmure Tully. Robb is considered a very handsome young man, and both Myrcella Baratheon and Alys Karstark find him attractive. Robb has a strong voice, sometimes reminiscent of his father Ned's and other times of his uncle Brandon Stark's. After returning from the Westerlands during the war, he lost the smoothness of his face, becoming thinner and harder, and shaved, acquiring an appearance as hungry and wild as his direwolf, Grey Wind. Like his father, Robb has a keen sense of honor and justice and, despite his age, he tries to be the best leader possible for his people. Despite this, he seems quite susceptible to his feelings. Robb is the rival, best friend, and constant companion of his half-brother Jon Snow. Robb also admires and appreciates the company of Theon Greyjoy, whom he considers a brother. He wears a crown similar to those of the ancient Kings of Winter, with an open ring of hammered bronze, engraved with the runes of the First Men, crowned by black iron spikes, forged in the shape of longswords, since bronze and iron were the metals of winter: dark and strong to fight against the cold. His personal emblem is a variation of the Stark emblem: a direwolf's head in grey on a white background.
