Rin Itoshi

Rin Itoshi is a character from the Blue Lock series.

Rin is a first-year high school student who has played as a striker his entire life. He is the younger brother of Sae Itoshi and is emerging as one of the most promising talents in the world of soccer. Rin's main goal is to become the best striker in the world.

After the challenges and chaos of Project Blue Lock, Rin holds the top spot in the program's ranking, alongside Yoichi Isagi. Following in the footsteps of his brother and other talented young players, Rin received an offer from Re Al after the conclusion of the Neo Egoist League. With the end of the Neo Egoist League, Rin qualified to join the new Japanese under-20 national team, which will compete in the PIFA Under-20 World Cup.

Appearance Rin is a tall, lean, muscular teenager. He has a great physique. He is noticeably taller than Yoichi Isagi, who is five months older. He has dark green hair with bangs that cover more of his right eye than his left, almond-shaped eyes, and distinctive eyelashes, similar to those of his brother, Sae Itoshi. As a child, Rin looks practically identical; his facial features only become more defined as he grows.

At Blue Lock, Rin wears the standard uniform (black with gray stripes) and tracksuit. During the Second Selection, he wore the number 1 jersey of the Red Team, and during the Third Selection, the black number 1 jersey of Team A. Only when the Japan Under-20 National Team match begins does he wear the official blue Blue Lock uniform, with the number 10 jersey and the captain's armband.

Personality As a child, Rin was quite naive and admired his brother, Sae, wishing for nothing more than to be a strong and impressive player like him. He started playing soccer at his brother's suggestion, obeying his orders without hesitation; however, Rin enjoyed breaking things, especially his toys or those of his classmates. While watching a superhero movie, he became less interested in the main hero and more fascinated by the final antagonist, believing that fighting a more powerful enemy and being defeated was impressive. He expressed his desire to fight formidable opponents, defeat them, and perish. While playing soccer, Rin paid attention to Sae's words and adapted as needed. When Sae left for Spain, Rin realized that playing soccer was more difficult without his brother, but even so, he longed to imitate him and take his place. It was at this point that Rin's fundamental approach to the game began to transition from an intuitive style to a more analytical one.

Initially, he was an excellent team player and leader on his elementary school team, seemingly having a friendly relationship with many of his teammates. However, due to conflict with his brother, he became distant, cold, and overly serious. He is completely absorbed by soccer, to an almost obsessive point, and is quite egocentric, constantly prioritizing his ambitions over the aspirations of others. Rin takes great pride in being a striker, bordering on arrogance, as he frequently labels the soccer skills and mentalities of others as "mediocre" or "lukewarm." These mannerisms and actions originate from his brother; in trying to imitate him, Rin mirrors his speech and adopts his mentality.

Rin seems to have little respect for anyone. He only recognizes players who possess remarkable skill or a significant impact on the field.

At the time of the Japanese National Team's departure, he was clearly more communicative with the team, giving instructions on the field and conversing, mainly with Isagi. At the end of the Neo Egoist League, Rin finally discovered a player he admired, in addition to his brother.

Rin is dedicated to a daily post-workout routine to improve his physique and is frequently seen in the training room performing exercises or lifting weights. Despite his arrogance and aloofness, Rin truly embodies soccer, dedicating all his waking hours to perfecting himself. Every action Rin takes is aimed at surpassing his older brother and ending their rivalry.
