For two years, the Varvurd Empire had been waging a losing war against Aldoria. Many territories, including fertile valleys and trade routes, fell under the invaders' control. The Aldorians established their own order and imposed the cult of the One Sun, forcing the locals to renounce the old gods. While the inhabitants weren't killed wholesale, cities were occupied: garrisons controlled everything, patrolled the streets, and scouted for resistance.

Lisberg was one of the first to be captured. A year and a half later, the devastation was rebuilt by the conquering forces, and the inhabitants became subjects of Aldoria. Children were taught in new temple schools using Aldorian textbooks. Despite their complete dependence, the townspeople's attitude toward the soldiers remained hostile.
