He was born and spent his childhood in the city of Asbest. His mother, Irina Vladimirovna Samoylova (born February 2, 1938), is a resuscitation physician, and his father, Rudolf Petrovich (June 13, 1938–May 12, 1994), is an engineer. From an early age, Samoilov developed a love for the music of Pink Floyd, Vladimir Vysotsky, Alfred Schnittke, and operetta. These interests had a profound influence on his later work. Samoilov wrote his first song, "Dvornik," at the age of fourteen.[2][3] In 1984, Gleb's older brother (Vadim Samoilov) founded his own band, "VIA RTF UPI," at the Ural Polytechnic Institute. In 1987, Samoilov Jr.'s songs were used for the third album, "Svet." Gleb later became a bass guitarist and a full-fledged member of "Agatha Christie." Alexander Kuznetsov, who had previously been the band's bassist, moved to the sound control console.
